Stop all this Will Wade BS or start a Will Wade,Forum for all of you who keep chirping Will Wade,

I suspect the majority of you are tired of hearing “Bring Will Wade back!”. Bringing someone back who has been fired never works. Plus, Wade was OK but no powerhouse. The record does not show that LSU was competitive in most of its losses this year and play has shown improvement each year under McMann.

You can learn a lot from people who actually know what they are talking about:

LSU departing senior guard Max Mackinnon:

Mackinnon sure made it clear how good a coach he feels McMahon is. And he’s got proof – his game. "Everyone’s got an opinion. But we lost our two best players at the start of the year.”
Those were beefy returning 6-foot-10, 245-pound junior forward Jalen Reed, who was lost in November to an Achilles injury, and electric junior UNLV transfer point guard Dedan Thomas Jr., who was one of the best at his position in the SEC through the non-conference season before his foot injury. Thomas was also the most expensive Name, Image & Likeness purchase LSU’s collective was able to cobble together last year at an estimate of about $3 million a year.
For a team like LSU on one of the cheapest roster budgets in the SEC at approximately $8 million and consequently not an overly deep or talented team, losing those two were daggers.

Rudy Macklin on Matt McMahon:

“Give Him the Players First”
“From day one, the odds were against him,” Macklin said of Matt McMahon. The Tigers’ reputation lay in ruins after the Will Wade era, crippled by NCAA sanctions that scared off prospects. “When LSU went on probation, recruits immediately started telling each other, ‘Don’t go there. They’re not going to be on TV. They’re not going to be in the tournament,’” Macklin recalled. By the time McMahon arrived, the cupboard was bare—and the clock was ticking.
"...the smarter play is to see what McMahon can do when he finally has the resources other SEC programs already enjoy. Because until LSU truly tests that scenario, firing Matt McMahon won’t solve its deepest problem.

"The Smarter Play" That's where all of you Will Wade idiots need help. Firing Mr. McMann to bring Will Wade back is not a smart move, its dumb. Stop being dumb. Got it.

Will Wade, Will Wade, Will Wade, Will Wade, Will Wade, Will Wade, Will Wade, Will Wade, Will Wade, Will Wade, Will Wade, Will Wade, Will Wade, Will Wade, Will Wade, Will Wade, Will Wade, Will Wade, Will Wade, Will Wade, Will Wade, Will Wade, Will Wade, Will Wade,

The best thing to do whenever you want people to stop talking about Will Wade is to start a Will Wade thread I find.

I don't give a flying frick about what Max Mackinnon or Rudy Macklin have to say about this. Of course players and former players are going to defend the coach

We need a coaching change even if we don't hire Will Wade back

If McMahon has accomplished anything at LSU, it is lowering the bar for success and expectations of success SO LOW that this statement "LSU was competitive in most of its losses this year" is looked at as positive for a handful of losers

What is the media guide going to say about McMahon?: "In his four seasons at LSU his teams tried really hard and didn't always get blown out."

But take the names of the school and people out of the discussion and look at it logically. If people told LSU fans an unnamed school was considering retaining the coach with the lowest conference winning % in the 100+ year history of the program, and the only coach in the last 50+ years with a losing record overall, over the coach with the highest conference winning % in the history of the program and the highest overall winning % in nearly 40 years, LSU fans would laugh at how mind-numbingly stupid that decision would be.

Yet, if you insert LSU as the school name, and McMahon and Wade as the coaches in the discussion, ALL logic and reasoning goes completely out of the window for some.

Have you ever heard a departing player say, yes, my coach should be fired? Especially the coach who put a lot of money in your pocket this year.

Why does Rudy's opinion matter here? Keep in mind, he's probably solidly in the Dale Brown camp on this. Dale wanted Wade out more than anybody. Dale also gave us the Johnny Jones years.

If the choice is to keep the guy who is 17-55 in conference games or go rehire the guy who was 55-33 with a conference title, a sweet 16 and 4 NCAAT appearances in 5 years, there really isn't much discussion.

When the disparity in records is this bad, I really don't need anybody else's opinion.

ETA. I'm going to go out on a limb and say you're not someone who has to make a lot of data-driven decisions on a daily basis.

Rudy would have been better off saying: "I haven't paid attention to LSU basketball, or college basketball as a whole for the last 4 years." At least he would have retained some semblance of credibility instead of just regurgitating some groupthink falsehood.

"Recruits immediately started telling each other, ‘Don’t go there."....so much so that LSU signed a top 20 ranked HS recruiting and signing class that offseason

If nothing else, it has become clear over the last four years that when it comes to LSU basketball people just say shite without any real knowledge of if it is accurate or based in reality.

This is entertaining. What probation was LSU under (the self-imposed single scholarship reduction)? MM had solid recruiting classes on paper, he couldn't develop them. Recruits now are interested largely in one thing, and its got nothing to do with probation.

The players also wanted Les Miles back and carried him off the field after the A&M game. How’d that work out for them? Players are the last folks we should listen to when it comes to a new coach. They probably have it on easy street and enjoy the country club atmosphere and don’t want someone coming in to hold them accountable.

Ah, another stop talking about Will Wade - Will Wade post

62 times his name was mentioned. That’s a good way to stop Will Wade talk.
