We are projected a 3 seed in the NIT bracketology.

No way. They declined it last year why would they accept this time. The NIT is a waste of time now that rosters turn over every year the way they do now

I was told we actually put in a bid weeks ago to host a first round game. So I'd say yes they would probably accept one.

This might CMM's last shot. It's hard to see him not wanting to play in it.

Dude has run out of players almost to even field a competitive team for a tournament

We played 7 guys against Kentucky. 4 players had to play 33+ minutes. Tamba was on the floor for 30 minutes for crying out loud

There is no way LSU would be stupid enough to do that. Why embarrass yourself by hosting a tournament game in an empty arena

There would be no reason to go to the NIT if none of the staff or players will even be here next year.

Plus teams lose money on the NIT so it doesn’t make financial sense.

That might be why he hasn't been fired though. I'm predicting we accept an NIT bid.

I totally agree but they did it anyway.

Doubtful. It would depend on what the players would want to do and I doubt any feels like practicing for another (potentially) few weeks to play in an irrelevant tournament fans don't care about.

The last time LSU backed their way into the NIT (in MM's "good" year), at or less than 2,000 people showed up to the PMAC to watch it. LSU would probably get LESS than that to show up this year. That's why LSU declined the invitation last year.

If Miller can play I think we should accept. The lack of Miller's strong presence inside precluded success in the SEC tourney.

However, the salient truth about the NIT is that we won't be invited. Only two of the four SEC bubble teams will dance in the NCAA tourney; the other two, probably Texas (early exit vs Ole Miss) and Auburn (losers to Tennessee) are now among the "first four out" and will be NIT entries.

Just let it go.

The sooner you do, the pain goes away.

So if we accept the bid does that indicate the staff will be back?

They did just that a few years ago.

Luckily, nobody watches the NIT.

They were 9-9 in SEC play that year. And the PMAC probably had more folks in it for that game than any game in March since then.

Those 9 SEC wins from season two are mor than half of his total SEC wins.
