Trump gave him an offer he couldn't refuse? Or perhaps some carrots. Or both.

Seems like an odd time of day for a national broadcast from El Dictador.

Probably boarding a plane to South America. His speech will be “adios”.

Google summarization fro. The guardian.

On March 13, 2026, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel confirmed in a broadcast on national television that his administration has held recent talks with the United States to address severe bilateral differences.

Key points from his message, delivered amid a severe economic crisis and mounting pressure from the U.S., include:

Talks with the U.S.: Díaz-Canel confirmed that conversations have taken place with the U.S. government to find solutions to problems, characterizing them as a "highly sensitive process" intended to move away from confrontation.

Defense of Sovereignty: He maintained that dialogues must be based on equality, respect for Cuba's sovereignty, and political system.

Lifting the Blockade: Díaz-Canel called on the U.S. government to lift the blockade against Cuba, arguing that no state has the right to subdue another.

Economic Crisis: The message comes during a time of immense pressure, including a massive blackout that affected the western region of Cuba last week, which he noted has severely impacted power, transportation, and healthcare.

Defense of Government: He argued that the U.S. uses the blockade to force the Cuban people to turn against their government, calling this a "perverse strategy".

Bottom line narrative?

The Cuban government doesn’t know what to do.

The fact that they are even admitting to dialogue with the USA is a huge sign of weakness for them.

The communist regime in Cuba is going down with a whimper. I’m getting East German vibes here.

It’s going to happen.
