I run 8 cameras hard wired with cat6 at my house. Something is eating them. I don't want to run this shite in conduit. Would wire loom work or is there something else that would work better. 2 are currently out because of these fricking squirrels or mice or whatever they are.

Have you tried asking them nicely?

I had a mechanic tell me that rats love eating the rubber casing around wires. Something about how some of them are made is appealing to rats and rodents. We had issues for a while where my wife's wires under her hood were being chewed. I had to put traps in the garage and under her car.

There are rodent-proof sleeves and I think even RJ (cat6) that comes with that sleeve/housing. Amazon and online is where I found it previously.

Good point. I'll move out of my trailer house immediately and hopefully pick up a nice 1 bedroom house where squirrels aren't allowed to live. Probably like Mandeville

Shielded cable

My problem is that I run all of my cable down to a central location through conduit in the wall. Bulky cable won't be able to accomodate it.

Sounds like you are a victim of Soy-Based Wiring Insulation.
So am I
This began about 2002 when some asshat decided that soy-based wiring insulation was an eco-friendly alternative to plastic insulation.
No one realized that rodents would be attracted to the smell of Soy beans.
Just about every car manufacturer adopted soy wiring until around 2020
The amount of rodent destroyed automotive wiring harnesses over the last 15 years is mind blowing. Home wiring suffered the same fate
My 4Runner is in a garage in a neighborhood with few trees and we don't have a rodent problem but when we go camping I have to use a peppermint based spray all over the tires and the engine bay. The rodents aren't a fan of peppermint.
In your case if soy wiring is the problem there isn't much you can do other than wrap all the wires in Rodent Tape or rid your home of the little bastards

I have this issue with some of my Christmas lights. Squirrels and/or rabbits chew threw my wires at night bc I'm assuming the wire coating is soy based. I've heard of and tried several remedies including spraying the wire with hair spray and a concoction of cayenne and garlic water spray. I'll have to try the peppermint oil next time bc nothing has worked thus far

Aren’t 8 cameras a little over kill security for a trailer? What are doing in there?

We had a problem at our hunting camp (happens to be a trailer and some barns/sheds).

Our ATV’s and other things constantly had wires ruined by rodents.

No amount of trapping and poisoning worked.

One trip to the animal shelter and a pair of cats off death row later, and problem solved. We are only at the camp intermittently, and they only get fed by us on that schedule, so it’s survival of the fittest.

They are amazing at pest control.

I trapped a mouse in the garage this week. Cat finds it, brings dead mouse, still in trap, up to the steps. It's what they do. Can't help themselves.

We don't let him do the work himself or else he'll bring them in alive and release. not going through that again.

I’d start with an exterminator.
