The day after losing out of the SEC tournament.

Safe to say if it does not happen by tomorrow, we will be stuck with this clown for another year.

Absolutely no reason to wait, when you can start having discussions with coaches who aren't in the tournament. Like Matt Braeuer

Slightly different time and I can see why we would wait if we are targeting a tourny coach such as Wade or anyone else.

Why cause Wade a distraction like NC state did?

The portal isn’t open yet so no need to rush to fire and hire.

I want him gone today but I see a world where we let the first round play out before we fire him. Now if NC state gets dumped round 1 and it’s a week later and we have done nothing I’ll be worried he is back

I agree the buy out drops but we can fire MM after nc state is eliminated and just wait until the buy out drops.

So we could at least move on from MM and let him go get a new job.

Also there is a world where nc state wants this out of the way and is willing to negotiate on the buyout as to not get left out if the coaching changes.

Us waiting until April 2 could put them in a situation where the best mid majors are already gobbled up. So they have the incentive to not frick wade over because it fricks them worse.

I know NC state already hates us over Tommy Tanks and this would be more salt but if they come open so late because they wanted to spite us they could end up like ole miss.

What does that have to do with firing McMahon

You're comparing now to an event that happened 9 years ago? This is a whole different administration.

I dont know that they will fire McMahon without being supremely confident they can get Wade. Not to say they definitely wouldnt hire someone else but its pretty clear who they are all in for at the moment.

The portal opens March 24, they will wait till April 1 to get Wade if they have to I think but if they feel like they cant get Wade last minute, not sure they would want to bring in another coach they are behind on getting so late in the portal process. We know we are basically building yet another whole new team from the portal. Much more difficult to do that if we dont hire someone till mid-late April vs. late MArch-early April.

It shouldn’t have much play, the bigger thing if Wade was the target is timing to let MM go once his season ends so it’s not a new distraction.

I love Wade but can’t see how he gets this NC state team very far. So it shouldn’t be long.

The move needs to be made even if we aren’t getting Wade or say he made a run and decided to stay.

The firing of MM shouldn’t be dependent on if we can get Wade. The next coach isn’t going to be as bad as MM. especially when guys like Lamont Paris can get a team in the sec to the tourny

We want to fire a mid major coach who went to the tournament for a mid major coach who didn’t make the tournament?

It’s so bad that id love to have our native son Johnny back.

At least it was mildly fun watching guys like Jarrell Martin and Mickey until Ben Simmons showed up.

If they won their reg season but lost conference tourny that’s fine or a history of getting to the dance

That’s how bad MM is that we could even think that having Johnny back is an improvement

If McMahon isn't relieved of his duties this season, we're truly in uncharted territory for challenged coaching in major college basketball. Other P4 coaches with similarly abysmal records-- Mark Fox @ Cal 2019-23, Trent Johnson @ TCU 2012-16 and Tom Crean @ Georgia 2018-22 were dismissed after 4 seasons, which seems to be the standard for rottenness. If McMahon is given a fifth year with the Bayou Bengals we're potentially exploring depths never before probed.

Yep and the buyout for Jones and his staff was only about $2 million.

Alleva and Nunez targeted Wade early. It was a big jump for Wade.

We already had to do something that I haven’t seen any sec or really major team do in giving away free tickets to MBB and not just to students and we did it twice and maybe got 2k people in the morgue.

Bringing MM back we might see if MBB can lose money despite its share of tv revenue. A full season averaging 1,000 and maybe paid of 3,000 might do it

Either Will Wade or Matt McMahon will be this programs coach next season. Unless Wade tells them no and they announce McMahon is coming back, you won't hear anything until NC State is done.

You can thank this guy if he doesn’t get fired.

Everyone on that list had reasonable contracts I’m sure.

The damage Scott did to this department and liabilities he left lsu with monetarily is insane

frick that. The only thing he could do was recruit, and that is a highly diminished skill today. He would be much worse in the SEC today than the way he ended here nearly a decade ago.

Different situation. I think we are going to be in limbo for at least a week and a half or so.

Hard to believe, but I’ve heard it’s either Wade or nothing and I never thought Wade was going to happen.

Another year of wait & see and then someone like Beard, Drew, or Wade might be more available next year
