Cornyn Flip-Flops Again on Filibuster After Promising ‘Whatever It Takes’

“I support whatever changes to Senate rules that may prove necessary for us to get the SAVE America Act and homeland security funding past the Democrats’ obstruction, through the Senate, and on the president’s desk for his signature,” Cornyn crows in the op-ed, seemingly reversing a fervently held position on the filibuster.
Yet by 10:00 a.m., just hours after publication, an agitated Cornyn backtracked before escaping into a Capitol elevator, even raising his hand to block the reporter’s camera.

We are playing with fire if they nuke the filibuster. I understand i want something done about the voter id.
It will give the power to the dems to do the same thing on some crazy legislation they want. It is hard to get things thru the senate....that is a feature of the senate. We need to pressure the dems and dem voters need to pressure them for this bill. It is an 80% issue. Apply the pressure voters.

"Nuke the filibuster" is a term that the MSM has used to to cloud the situation. Nuking the filibuster would be doing away with the filibuster and go to time limited debate. (Like in the House)
What the American people want is to get rid of the "Zombie filibuster" in which the opposition threatening to filibuster is enough to block doing anything.
What we want is to go back to the Talking filibuster in which the opposition has the ability to continue to debate as long as they can as long as they don't stop talking or sit down. (see "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington). This has been Senate procedure for over 200 years.
What the American people want is to get rid of the "Zombie filibuster" in which the opposition threatening to filibuster is enough to block doing anything.

The founders didn't think we needed a filibuster, only a simple majority. I vote for going back to that. The Senate has been the most inefficient and nonproductive body in the federal gov for decades. They always hide behind the filibuster when crucial, divisive matters must be settled. We should force them to kill it.
Yes, I realize it's a two-edged sword and dems can eventually use a simple majority to ramrod their legislation through. The solution is to govern well and never let them win the senate.

You have seen the Democrats. You have seen everythign they've done. You watched them cheat at elections, use district judges to block POTUS, and attempt to assassinate the President.
WHat world are you living in that you think the dems wont' do everything they can to ensure they stay in power forever? You think the left is just waiting for the Republicans to do something before they react?
Nuke the filibuster. Because if you don't, then you will lose the next election via the mass fraud, and when they are in power, the left will NEVER cede that power again. They used every single branch of fed gov to attack conservatives, and most of it illegally and suffered zero consequences. But you think they are going to play fair this time? Don't be so naive.

It's really a difference of perspective. Either you focus on the positive results and move forward, or you focus on the negative and move nowhere.
Most conservatives are so scared of democrats that they can't even move. They would rather not take an action that improves the country if it will upset democrats. Somehow, they think democrats won't be evil pieces of shite if we just play nice.

Wesley Hunt threw his support behind Paxton. So Paxton has the votes to win the runoff. Cornyn is scrambling doing anything for a vote . His only chance is a trump endorsement but even that won’t get him over the top if Paxton keeps his votes, which he will, and gets a good percentage of Hunts voters…….
