I'm convinced that some of you get off to coaches being fired.
Why don't you let the situation play out? Yall were kicking and screaming the same exact way about football, and that turned out just fine.

Just a nugget for the idiots here, board action is required to hire or fire any personnel with a salary over $250,000.

I’ll start by saying the OP sounds dumb. But to be fair, the day that Brian Kelly was fired was one of the best days on this board in quite some time. You had guys saying that he wouldn’t get fired then a few hours later saying he was gone. It was electric. Granted, this is a totally different situation.

I suspect funds are tight right now. If not for the BK fire the hammer would’ve already dropped. They may need one more year…probably what the internal debate is about now.

SEC basketball is not about the coach.. It's about the ecosytem surrounding the sport. The LSU basketball ecosystem — its boosters, donors, sponsors and NIL infrastructure is not healthy .
The question - is it willing to fund the level of roster investment required to compete at the top of the league. - somewhere between $10 and $20 million.? I think we are around $5 or 6 mil. with half of that dead money because of injuries. This has to be at the bottom of the SEC, precisely where we finished.
Tpear won't do any better with a $5 mil roster budget and he knows it. He won't come here until we get the budget up to $15 mil.+
Because in modern college basketball, talent follows money, not the coach.
Message to Verge - Get the $15 mil., get the players, get the new arena, then get the coach. IMO, that's what's needed to climb back into the top 3rd of the SEC. In this new world order the coach is the least important.
If you are not willing to upgrade the ecosystem, then we will reside in the bottom 3rd, not the top. A coach alone won't move the needle much like it used to. A lot of work to do. Need to get Spaht on the phone.

It is if you're an LSU basketball fan.

The basketball team was faced with adversity early on...injuries sidelined key players for most of the season, yet the Tigers fought hard in most of their games. To blame the head coach for losses is not really fair. I want to see how the team does next year, then we can comment on the team and the coaching.
Until then, chill!

Just another insult to injury, ULL just signed a 4* kid from Alexandria, Tyson Duncan, 6-8, 215lbs combo forward. This is a joke man, can’t even pull our best local kids.

We? How much did you put in? I'd argue that since he hasn't been fired, nobody is paying him to make MBB great.

I agree. You are.

If you're an NIL donor, would you pony up for another season in 2026-27 with McMahon still the head coach? What ROI have you seen to indicate that your money is being put to its best use? Thus, your budget is $5 million.
But if you're an NIL donor, and McMahon is fired and replaced by Wade or another young, energetic coach who excites the fan base and the donors, you might pony up to help the new coach get the program headed in the right direction. Thus, the budget becomes $15 milion.
It's all about the coach. Maintaining the status quo isn't going to help the program. Because if McMahon is retained, and next season is just more of the same, the program has been set back another year.

Verge is doing his job. He is no doubt surveying the current landscape, looking for coaches who might would come here, and waiting for the opportunity to reel in the right one when the time is right.
Verge would NOT be doing his job if he listened to the knee-jerk, emotional crybaby knuckle-dragging neanderthals on this site.
"Must fire coach TODAY". "Must hire new coach TODAY"

You couldn't be more wrong.
Coach is UUUUUGE. You either can coach or you can't. McBitch couldn't coach his way out of a wet paper bag.
