When you put that on top of what it cost the DONORS to buyout Brian Kelly and staff plus what it took to hire Lane Kiffin and staff, throw in another 40 million for NIL and one can easily see where DONOR fatigue may not want to buyout Matt McMahon.

So you don’t understand the buyout would have been a shorter answer.

Both BK and MM are being paid monthly so nothing is due up front and it’s over the life of the contract. Same as people acting like we are paying LK 100MM this year or we have to escrow this money somehow and it isn’t just a normal salary.

I know this point will be hard for you so I’ll try to simplify this:

LSU basketball is paying MM either way, we can either continue to pay him his full contract and get last place finishes or we fire him and only pay 80% so a 20% reduction. It’s also offset just like BK by getting another job. The bad news is no one else is dumb enough to pay him 3MM a year to completely offset him but I’d bet he could get 1.5 or so from a mid major, also he has to look for a job or we can pay him nothing.

Now on top of costing us an extra 20 percent to keep him, LSU basketball is making around 6-7MM less than our equivalent Alabama. This is from sucking and not being able to fill our arena. So we keep MM and we pay more and continue to barely break even or we fire him, pay him less and can make up the entire thing with additional revenue by winning in probably 2-3 years.
