This team still has great potential

I still think Jay's right when he says this team has the best pitching depth since he's been here. The hitting HAS to improve, and I think it will.
It's early, but it looks like we've found our weekend rotation. If so, I don't think we really ever did that in 2023 or 2025. Both years, as far as staring pitching went, it was a 2 man show with fill ins in Omaha. Evans and Schmitt are finding their stride now and Moore will be reliable. We dont have a Skenes or Anderson, but still have 3 guys that I think can be very solid.
I think our relievers/ stoppers end up having a big impact. Sheerin is looking solid right now. I think Rizzy will keep improving as the season goes by but is already tough to handle. Garcia, who had a great summer in the Cape, just showed he can be as good as anyone out of the pen for 3 or so innings. Plog has been good. We know what we have in Guidry and Cowan. I like Font as a closer. I'd like to see Paz maybe switch to this role for the time being and he could be really good there with his velocity. I don't mind Dathe closing games either. There's a lot to like here IMO.
We need to find out who midweek starter is. I think Cooper Williams needs another look and I'm pretty high on Theo. He's very polished for a Freshman IMO.
The hitting has to get better. It's encouraging to seen Serna have a big moment. Stanfield brings energy back to the lineup and we really need him to be a guy who hits line drives and get on base. I'd really like to see Simpson get some extended time.

You just named like every pitcher we have and said that they’re all good

Agreed. We won because of our bullpen (specifically Rizy, sheerin, Garcia) figuring it out and a granny from our freshman catcher that’s batting 200. Stanfield getting some action is a great sign. Milam, curiel, brown and our weekend starters are the backbone of the team. Pitching will get figured out. We just need 2-3 of these young guys to shake out.

I like how our outfield looks with Stanny back, both offensively and defensively. Milam is a gem at shortstop and I know his bat will come around. Other than that the infield is still a little rough

Also I’m done with the Yorke experiment. He’s a F tier 1B and base runner, and C tier at best hitter. Why the frick is he on this team.

He’s currently the 2nd best and most reliable hitter on a team that’s currently struggling with hitting. But yeah, let’s fricking bench him
He needs to quick fricking around any making dumb, unforced errors, but he’s earned his spot with his bat to this point.

Paz will be special for LSU over time. But he's not ready yet as a freshman coming off TJ surgery to be in any meaningful clutch situation at the end of a contested game. The stuff is there, but not consistent enough control yet.

In what world is he the most reliable hitter on this team? This is asinine.

Agreed. I don't see it with Carroway right now... he looks really shaky at 3B to me. He's a little slower than I was expecting and while I've seen flashes of the raw power, I'm not that impressed with his hitting. I wouldn't mind Pearson or Simpson getting more of a look if he struggles against Vandy.

He is in the middle of a slump yet is third on the team in BA, OBP, Slugging, and tied for second in HR's and second in OPS. He was also on base three times tonight.
He made an absolutely horrible decision on the base paths tonight so yeah,,,, lets cut the bum.

He swung on a pitch in the dirt and got on base due to a fielding error. He also can’t catch a baseball, so there’s that.

He’s had 1 bad error on the year… was the only player on the team with a hitting streak coming into tonight… not sure what the dig is on this kid? He even makes hella scoops at 1st. If he was as bad as your imagination…. Someone else would be at 1st

I think a lot of them are. Sheerin, Rizzy, and Plog all have done well. I'm not all in on Plog yet but he's performed well. Garcia looked as good as any pitcher we have tonight and dangerous from the left side. I think everyone agrees Guidry is solid. That's 3-4 good stoppers right there (pre-SEC).
Cowan was awesome most of last year and hasn't changed, but he does better against SEC teams and struggles with mid-majors... Williams was another great one last year who is the same guy and I think someone we need to stick with. I think he will be the midweek starter when he figures it out.
I'm taking some flyers with the rest but the potential is very high with them.

I’m sorry but Primeaux is just not very good. He’s been here for like 3 years now and hasn’t gotten a bit better. He’s consistently buried at the back end of the bullpen for a reason.

This place is so hot and cold. Put 15 on Sacramento St and we’re great again. Lose the series, we’re the worst ever. Beats Creighton, we’re going to be great, our bullpen is awesome.

What are you watching? He’s had one bad error if I recall and the rest was pickoffs nowhere close to the bag

Someone goes off of their feelings and not stats.

Remember when we got beat by Texas then a few weeks later swept by Auburn. We were about on the same level of melt as this board is now.
Leaders need to step up and we need a little better consistency. Jay will be pulling the strings when the time is right. Plenty of talent on this team on both sides.
If we don’t have a good showing this weekend then we can hit the panic button.

The talent is there. If they can execute and become consistent then yes the team can be very good. They just need to find their groove.
