I'd expect to see a flurry of contract/roster moves in the next few days

While light work by Saints standards, they are still far above the cap, and the legal tampering period begins on Monday. So far, the Saints have been very very quiet on reworkings of deals, cuts etc.

I'd expect that to change extremely shortly

Sometime the moves have already been made just not announced

This! Anyone that is just getting a restructure most likely won't be announced until the day before the new league year. Any extensions (like Olave) will hit the news cycles as soon as ink touches paper, if not a little sooner

Young alone just about gets us there. We should now be less than a million over according to over the cap ($743,260 over being more exact)

Why would you trade a guy like Rattler?

Only if a QB needy team sees rattler as a possible starter for them and gives us that type of compensation.

So say a Arizona Cardinals give us a 2nd or a 3rd and a next yr pick.

What happens if Carr unretires? Does that offer any relief or is he all dead money?

When an NFL player unretires, the team reinstates their original contract, reversing the acceleration of "dead money" that occurred upon retirement. Any remaining bonus proration and base salary from that contract return to the team's salary cap, with the player returning to the roster and resuming their previous salary obligations

I was listening to Triplett and he mentioned if he were to force his way on to the roster by unretiring cap money would hit the books or something along those lines. I don’t recall the specifics

Basically we’d either get the trade done, or if he refuses to go where we have a trade set up we’d just release him (maybe after the deadline? if it takes that long)

ETA I just listened to Ross Tucker and he says they don’t have to activate him from retirement list if they don’t want to, so take it fwiw

I think Haener was signed off our PS and thank god for that. He wasn’t even worth a PS spot
