It feels like a Star Wars-type situation.
There is no chance that this show measures up to the original series. Not because it can't be a well-done show, but because fans of OG potter have the nostalgia element and this romantic view of what they remember those movies to be. This has no chance to capture that.

A lot of book readers do not like the movies, hence this series

I love the books and I’m not crazy about the movies. I don’t think doing an authentic hbo series that is an authentic love letter to the books is really that difficult an undertaking on the surface. It doesn’t have to be reimagined in any way.

The tv series will likely be a hit. Far easier to cover various smaller storylines.

The "Book First" nerds will definitely have their panties in a bundle but that happens with 99.9% of book to film adaptations.

The worst part about Harry Potter is the fans, would love to check out Universal Orlando but being surrounded by them makes that an immediate no for me.
