NASCAR hates this. They want the old guard to win especially after the lawsuit. It’s great for the sport though and I’m not even a Reddick or Toyota fan.

Meh, I don't believe this. They know that MJ is a draw for the sport, and it's a good thing when his team wins.

At trial, all parties were cordial with one another. The lawsuit only went to trial in the first place because Jim France was stubborn. NASCAR settled once it was obvious that France's position was a losing one.

Former NBA player Brad Daugherty (like Jordan, a NC guy) is also a NASCAR co-owner.

His teams have won in the Truck Series, Xfinity Series and the Cup Series including the 2023 Daytona 500 with driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

That's incorrect. This was the first time a single driver has won the first three races in a season. This is the third time a team won the first three races of the season. Petty Enterprises did it in 1963 and DePaolo Engineering did it in 1957 with different drivers, granted the format was very different as the season didn't start with Daytona back then.

He seems to enjoy being a NASCAR owner far more than he ever did being an NBA owner, which kind of makes sense when you think about it. When you've played a sport at the absolute highest level imaginable you'll probably never get the same kind of thrill out of watching other people play it. In the case of NASCAR he was always a fan first (going back to his childhood) so it's probably easier and more fun for him to just watch and enjoy it for what it is. With basketball he's probably never able to watch a game without wishing he could lace them up again and destroy whoever's out there.

Fun photo that's been floating around of a UNC era Jordan meeting Richard Petty before a race.
