That sucks, and I'm not trying to minimize that loss, but what does Iran specifically have to do with Iraq and Afghanistan? Those aren't even the same ethnicities or people who speak the same language.

Iran is by far responsible for more deaths of our service members than any other entity. Primarily in Iraq but also in Afghanistan to a lesser extent.
They flood the zone with Iranian mercenary's and introduced new more technologically advanced IEDs with far more destructive capabilities.
In Iraq we were fighting almost exclusively Iranians. Afghanistan due to where I was much less so as I was on the Pakistan border but in the south of Afghanistan where the Marines operated much more there was heavy Iranian presence

They were responsible for the vast majority of the engineering, material and construction if the EFP's that caused the lions share of casualties.
