This is a wild one, lol

Trying to explain the premise to someone makes it hard to believe this is actually a movie

The most recent great movie Ive seen at this point in my cinematic journey

I love this time of year because of the Oscar salute turned her classic does I was watching trials at Nuremberg last night

Just the way that film was shot in the black and white style, with lighting just added so much to the story

but i love Bansee more,, So story on the island while the war was going on across the Bay

was another storytelling strle trick That hit me from the very beginning is was hitting me throughout

the plot itself is pretty ridiculous. I think it needed a better explanation for the main conflict other than “paddy is dull”, but the acting is incredible and the cinematography is just breathtaking

it’s one of those movies that elicits a visceral reaction from me so strong that I don’t want to watch it again if that makes any sense. The characters are either so highly principled that I don’t want anything bad to happen to them or so completely deranged that I don’t want anything further to do with them. I can’t decide

It's an allegory for the Irish Civil War.

Loved it. Farrell and Gleeson are great as usual, but I was so impressed by Kerry Condon.

And a brilliant one at that. Probably my favorite movie in recent years.

Colm Doherty:
This isn't about Inisherin. It's about one boring man leaving another man alone, that's all.

Siobhan Súilleabháin:
One boring man! You're all feckin boring! With your piddling grievances over nothin'! You're all feckin boring! I'll see he doesn't talk to you no more.

Thought it was a total waste of time. Not rewatching. Not sure what people saw in the movie.

I thought it was a movie about depression and hopelessness and how much it can destroy your life.

I think that’s pretty much the gist of it, but more accurately in the context of a nation in the midst of a civil conflict. The cycle of war seems inescapable because of humanity's normalization of it all. Neither side can let go of their stubbornness, so they allow the conflict dictate their lives. Most of the characters either can’t see the forest through the trees, or choose not to. All of them are encapsulated by it. Siobhàn is the only one who eventually realized she was another cog in the boringness of it all till she left the island. The dialogue between her and Colm is so well done. He claims to have no more time left for dullness in his life, yet can’t escape his dull feud with Pàdraic. Every time he’s provoked, he harms himself. She thinks she’s above it all until he reminds her that she’s guilty of the very same thing she confronts him about. Her leaving doesn’t end the conflict, but it does free her from the cyclical nature of civil conflict.

Enjoyed it thoroughly, good story that doesn't follow some standard Hollywood trope. British movies use actors who look like real people and not glamorous actors, I like that element.
