Anyone else start a rewatch of the James Bond movies now that they are all on Netflix?

Been rewatching them in order from Dr. No to now being on Live and Let Die.

It’s been so long since I’ve seen them that I am basically watching with fresh eyes.

Gotta admit, Lazenby was actually pretty great in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. And Telly Savalas is excellent as Blofeld.

For pure camp, Goldfinger may be my favorite but OHMSS is probably second.

I watched Dr. No the other day. Made it about halfway through From Russia With Love. I've watched them all countless times; they're just dinner time background entertainment now. I own all of them on BluRay.

I'll go to the grave saying Goldeneye is the bets Bond film ever made. To me, it's the quintessential and perfect Bond.

The Roger Moore films are so bad in retrospect, but the one with Walken and Grace Jones always stood out.

Never actually seen the Tim Dalton ones.

If you've read Ian Fleming's books, Dalton very likely plays the role the most like the character Fleming created. His two films are worth your time.

I agree the Moore films were certainly worse than Connery's, as was his portrayal. Moore was good in Live and Let Die and got progressively worse in the role and stayed 2-3 films too long.

I would argue Skyfall is the best Bond film but the purest would kill me. Either way its a great film.

Dalton was solid, The Living Daylights is underrated.

Living Daylights is a solid film. License to Kill is meh. But Dalton is probably the most underrated Bond.

Rewatched all the Moore movies over the last few weeks.

Roger Moore is the best Bond, then Connery is a close second.

Sgt. JW Pepper is my favorite side character in the series.

I think the best movie in the Bond franchise is Casino Royale and to me it isn’t close.

Nothing feels shoehorned, everything is earned.

Craig does a great job oozing young swagger and bravado, while simultaneously allowing real emotion to creep in.

Green is near perfect as Vesper, very much a strong person with depth that shows in her eyes. And she’s absolute smoke.

Mads is intimidating but grounded and plays Le Chifre with intensity but never over the top.

The action is top notch. The gadgets are cool. The plot is great.

It’s my favorite for sure.

I always said Goldfinger was the best with GoldenEye second. And I would follow that up with “I don’t think that’ll ever change.”

And then Casino Royale came out.

Saw an interview with Roger Moore and he said he told his son he was taking him to his James Bond movie Live and let die. Son responded he wanted to see the real James Bond.

Would be interesting to see if this is how the actor’s debut and ended and how that would change perceptions of the various films as both Connery and Moore got very lazy towards the end of their tenure as Bond.

Dr No thru OHMSS - Connery

Diamonds Are Forever thru Moonraker - Moore

For Your Eyes Only thru License To Kill - Dalton

Brosnan and Craig stay the same.

I think OHMSS would have been amazing and different with Connery instead of Lazenby. The same for For Your Eyes Only with Dalton instead of Moore.
