Didn’t realize LSU had a hockey team. Taking the family to watch them play UTSA tonight in San Antonio.

Their purple uniforms are choice. I would love to see LSU get an NCAA hockey team.

I went watch the LSU hockey team play Tulane years ago at Leo’s Ice Rink.
During the warmup skate around, some LSU players were falling on the ice. I knew it was gong to be a long night.

I ordered an LSU sweater for my son from China. Looks great but obviously no proceeds went to the team.
I admire those guys for going out there, especially on their own dime. But man, it’s some bad hockey

I believe it. I know a guy that played on the club team I think around 2013 or 2014. Had never even ice skated before joining the team.

That team was so bad that they all quit in the middle of the season and the team forfeited the rest of their games. The current team isn't the first iteration of an LSU club hockey team.

Damn, you'd think we'd have enough Yankee students or foreign exchangers from the Nordic countries to at least field a dozen guys who could skate.

For Title IX balance, we would either have to cut a men’s sport or add another women’s sport to do that. There’s also the fact that no other SEC school currently competes in Hockey and very few schools in the South.
Right now, it’s only Miami and Tennessee St, and the later just started as an Independent this year. Arizona St is considered more as a Western school, but they are the only other. And those areas all have strong Hockey cultures that have built up around NHL teams (although Phoenix did lose theirs). Nashville has multiple rinks and youth leagues around the metro area to grow interest in the game. LSU doesn’t have any of that.

They ran off the coach with a team vote and that inevitably crashed the program a few years prior. It was a huge mistake because there were real players on the team at the time and were building momentum.

In the mid 80s, a group of my buddies had real official looking LSU hockey jerseys/sweatshirts made. Their gag was to go in bars to meet girls, convincing that they were LSU athletes on the official hockey team (that didn’t exist). Had names, game schedules, etc. all worked out. Actually kind of funny, maybe juvenile, but not without success.
