We are planning on going. There are two nursery’s we are planning on going to. Doug Young and Sam Stokes. My wife wants smaller stuff smaller than one gallon pots. It seems like the Doug Young nursery has big bulk stuff and Sam Stokes has trays of the smaller stuff, flowers etc. is this correct? We do want some bigger stuff but smaller stuff as well. For those that have been, give me some advice on what your experience has been, and what you recommend.

Yes, Sam Stokes has lots of smaller annual & herbaceous perennials in smaller pots/trays - minimal amount of woody shrubs, but nice potted fruit shrubs-trees. Doug Young has some of that as well up near the entry area where you check out (purchase) the plants but then acres and acres of potted woody shrubs and herbaceous perennials. Obviously go to both, they are within 10 min of each other.
I usually pick up plants from both when I go.

Its a little off the highway , but make a trip to la nuna . Great people , awesome inventory , and they will work with you on pricing .

South Louisiana has an impressive number of wholesale nurseries and many make retail sales. When exploring them don't forget BTR's Cleggs. It's "Color Division" on Greenwell Springs Rd is where the production greenhouses are. Now is a great time to visit there. Chances are good that the guy helping you is one of the owners. Plant selection in the late fall is less, but that time of year a greenhouse with 40,000 poinsettia is an impressive sight.

Some advice? Watch out for the speed trap on 112 at the edge of town where it drops to 35 mph. I got popped there a decade ago during Christmas time.

Agreed…everyone need to stop doing business completely with Forest Hill until they discontinue the speed trap. It would be effective within a week…
