Wiki

I'm a sucker for a pretty UI. Zen is based on Firefox. It has a unique tab setup, custom "mods", more privacy, etc. It works with my workflow because allows multiple "spaces", which are essentially profiles with their own tabs, bookmarks, theme, etc., that allows me to keep work and personal stuff separated. The icons on the top left are the "essentials", which are sites that you always keep open. The vertical tabs and essentials can be set to auto-hide to maximize workspace.

The setup process was clean and promising. But once installed the "clean" look actually distracted the hell out of me. It also doesn't automatically block ads, or the page launching additional windows full of ads. Hard pass, back to Brave.

I cant see ever using anything other than Brave. Lightweight, fast, customizable, secure, private, fantastic ad blocking, etc.

after using FF for a long, LONG time I moved to Brave last year and it's been a big improvement for me. I run across other forks and look at them from time to time but haven't seen anything I like even as much as Brave much less better.

I have my addons that I used with Firefox dialed in, so the switch was pretty seamless. A lot of the UI is the same as what I was doing with Firefox and userChrome, but much less neatly. This is saving a lot of working with maintaining code.

Still using chrome because I’m bored of the internet and don’t do much but WTAF? Three tabs open and memory is maxed out? What browser is just a light footprint? Not on any obviously ad heavy sites.

This. I use Brave exclusively now on all of my computers.
I drop the shields as needed but that isn't very often.

I gave zen a try a month or two ago, making it the default browser on a couple machines. It's nice, but i think I'm eventually going to make my way back to Firefox.

I use base Firefox and disable everything AI and UI bloat.

Ironically, AI tools like Gemini can help with writing scripts to facilitate that.

Also run AdGuard in the background on any device. Works well. If your router has adbocking capabilities, should enable that too.
