(1) On 2/3/90 LSU defeated Loyola Marymount 148-141 in OT at the PMAC. The Tigers has Chris Jackson and Shaq and Loyola had Bo Kimble and Hank Gathers (who died the following month during a game).

Key Performers (LMU): Hank Gathers scored 48 points with 13 rebounds, while Bo Kimble added 32 points.

Key Performers (LSU): Chris Jackson led LSU with 34 points, while Shaquille O'Neal recorded 20 points and 24 rebounds.

(2) On 1/28/89 the Tigers upset No. 2 Georgetown at the Superdome 82-80 before a crown of 54,321 on a last second bucket by Ricky Blanton.
I was there and had a bunch of Georgetown fans behind me talking trash the entire game. I turned around and gave them a big smile before they left in a hurry all pissed off.

The most iconic game in LSU basketball history was a loss.

Kentucky coming back from down 30+ in 2nd half to win. To this day there’s never been a greater comeback in college basketball history

Perhaps, but those two come to mind for me.

LSU vs UNLV was a hell of a game. I wasn't an LSU fan yet so I was butt hurt as a child about losing that game

31 points in the 2nd half. Find a larger deficit

There for both of those games. Basketball was so much fun. In CJ's freshman year, Fred's had a promotion of free cheese fries if he scored 50, up until the compliance office shut that down. Basketball games were an event every time during my four years in BR.

I still get sad watching Hank Gathers play. He stops taking his medicine for just a few days and then dies; he should not have been out there. So tragic.

I was there. I think Marymount wanted to shoot within 8-10 seconds every time down the floor. It is surprising CJ didn't score 50-60 in that game

I had an autographed picture of Chris Jackson doing a finger roll layup in that game. Katrina took it.

LSU beat #1 Kentucky 1978
has to be one of, if not the, best games in LSU history.

When all 5 starters fouled out and Andy Campbell had to come in in OT- it seemed like we would come up short.

Scales, Macklin and Martin- those were the days-

Although it was an iconic comeback, LSU was terrible that year and had a losing record. Like 11-16 or something. It wasn't some gigantic game that people all over were watching like LSU vs. Georgetown in the Dome which was truly iconic with the biggest regular season attendance of all time at the time for the NCAA.

That can't be. The Rant says LSU has "never" been a basketball school and can never be one. I can't recall. Was it raining that January day in NOLA, causing 54k to seek shelter in the Superdome oblivious to the fact there was a basketball game being played that day?

Those were before my time so for me it was the 2019 OT win at home over #5 ranked Tennessee during the Wade era. We found out Waters was out right before tip and Smart subbed in and had the game of his life. Only time I’ve seen the PMAC completely packed. Amazing atmosphere
