Why is being a Black Owned Business still a thing?

Rant - Saw an article on KPLC. How do the people writing these articles not see how divisive this is? What does it matter your race if you have a business that provides a good product at a good price with good service?

I've seen there are also shop only black business days. Isn't that racist? Is your business so weak and unsuccessful that you would risk losing a huge customer base just to appease another base?

Even Amazon has notes on product pages that the business is minority owned. So that's supposed to make me buy your product?

I would hope in the 21st century that there are fewer of these narrow-viewed individuals out there.

It may motivate some of us to other ends.

It’s not needed. We already know every vape and weave shop is.

It motivates some people to spend their money accordingly. Nothing to get too worked up about. It’s business.

This does the exact opposite. Tired of seeing it.

Both sides are correct.

Black history month. If there is a time to focus, it is now.

But as long as we look at color first, things will never progress to where everyone (but the hustlers) want them to be. This is so obvious that it is sad that it must be stated.

It might be.

I confess to thinking that business might be hard to deal with.

Question….would you have a problem if a business touted itself as “veteran owned?”

Doesn’t make me wanna do business there. Business is about relationships and products and services. I see a poonish sign like that? Tells me they have a chip on their shoulder and are going to go out of their way to try to outsmart me.

Our company is not allowed to move forward with a city and county contract until we find minority owned businesses we can work with.

It’s guaranteed 200k for them but they NEVER keep their doors open from 9-6. We have tk fire them. Then we have tk go find another.

There are black veterans. It's not race based.

Is it possible to advertise as a White owned business, maybe have a whole month to celebrate White people that actually accomplished something to celebrate?

Whenever I see a sign like this I wonder if the owner knows African Americans owned more businesses before the Civil Rights Act than after.
