Fall New England trip (VT, NH, or Maine)

we loved the drive to North Conway and the Kancamagus Highway. Picked apples in Vermont and went to Vermont Country Store.

Kennebunkport, Maine is a nice community.

We went this fall, leaves were beautiful. Fly into Portland just makes everything easier. I would spend most of my time in Bar Habor, Acadia national park was beautiful and there are a lot of activities. Make sure and get reservations for Cadilac mountain, first sunrise in the continental US during the fall. Bring you a cup of coffee and watch the first sunrise to hit the state. We went to both White and Green mountains. Stayed at Brittonwood, that is where the Brittonwood accords were signed. That was the start of the IMF. There are several beautiful drives from there.

We typically fly into Boston, and drive up to Portsmouth for the night or two. It's a nice town to walk around if you've never been.

We've been to Stowe a few times, Littleton, NH is nice, but weekday diner restaurants close early so it can be a jam to eat (we learned to eat dinner there at 5pm) Lincoln, NH was nice, but there seemed to be a hell of a lot of India H1B visas visiting last time....it was insane.

We love New England in the fall because it gets us out of the last ditch of Louisiana heat.

****Get the National Rental Car Executive membership if flying into Boston. That time of year the rental car lines are backed up and can take an hour or two just to get a car. Executive membership lets you walk out to the cars in the designated area, pick one out and drive off. Which is a HUGE timesaver. Some other companies offer similar deals, but I use National.
