Someone explain gymnastics scoring to me in layman’s terms

Why does it seem like Oklahoma makes the same mistakes as LSU but has a higher score?

In general, road team pays a tax that the home team collects.

I'm just here for the pics

Think of high school voting for homecoming queen.

I don’t know but I’m apparently buying season tickets next year. So says a 7 year old. “Daddy we have to go!”

Nope, everybody knows

Judge bias aside, gym scoring is on a completely nonsensical scale.
“Oh, that girl was shite?” 9.725
“WOW this was incredible!” 9.900
“This has been a very close match, 198.725-198.675, nothing like that 198.500-197.950 blowout”
It’s on a scale of 1-10 yet they operate, from an outsiders perspective, between 9.0 and 10.00 pretty much exclusively for any given event.

I can tell who wins by seeing who celebrates when the match is over.

Regardless of sport when LSU loses the fans blame the ref/judges.

In a sport that is solely based on judging it’s not bitching!

quote:Idk. I’m not familiar enough with gymnastics to say for sure, but they just said on TV that Oklahoma hasn’t lost at home since 2014—a streak of 94 consecutive matches.

Seems suspect to say the least

Home cooking works both ways

Gymnastics judges decide before the meet what team should win and they score accordingly. They have it in their heads that OU is awesome so they don’t make mistakes. Cognitive bias them causes them to ignore or be less critical of OU mistakes

I say it every Olympics. Any sport relying solely on judge scores sucks arse.

It has become obvious to my "don't really follow" gymnastics arse that the home team gets at least .3 advantage in scoring, and you continue to hear the commentators say..."well, you are going to get that at home". Nothing pisses me off more than hearing a home team gets an advantage in scoring (or fouls called in basketball). Where the game, event, meet is played should not influence the "OBJECTIVE" scoring.
