2019 was the last time LSU started 6-0 (went 8-0 that season)

Those 8 were all at Alex Box and against the following teams:

Louisiana–Monroe, Army, Air Force, Southeastern Louisiana, Bryant x 3, and Southern.

Then they lost 3 to Texas.

Jay Johnson has never won a national title without losing at least 1 of the first 6 games in a season at LSU.

It's over. See y'all next year.

I’m fairly certain LSU doesn’t lose a game this year.

Anyone else remember an LSU running back in the early 90s named Jay Johnson?

ETA: I just remember the freshman RB class of Robert Davis, Robert Toomer, David Butler and Jay Johnson.

Didn’t he spend a lot of these early and midweek games tinkering with the lineup last year?

He’s learned a lot from the LSU-S head coach.

I've heard Jay quote Skip on this. Something along the lines of "Don't be afraid to lose a game in order to find out who you can trust." So he does tend to tinker early in the season, to know who to count on when we get to SEC play.
