From CNBC:

At least two female staffers have alleged that they were sexually assaulted at the Labor Department building by the husband of Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer, MS Now confirmed on Thursday night.

Chavez-DeRemer’s husband, Dr. Shawn DeRemer, has not been criminally charged, but has been barred from the Labor Department’s headquarters in Washington, D.C., after the women detailed their claims to investigators, MS Now confirmed.

The New York Times first reported the situation on Thursday, citing people familiar with the situation and a police report.

“This is an active investigation by MPD’s Sexual Assault Unit,” a Washington Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson told CNBC when contacted about the Times’ account of one accuser filing a police report in late January. “We cannot confirm the names of potential suspects or witnesses.

The women said Dr. DeRemer, who is an anesthesiologist in Portland, Oregon, “had touched them inappropriately at the Labor Department’s building on Constitution Avenue,” according to the Times.

“One of the incidents, during working hours on the morning of Dec. 18, was recorded on office security cameras,” the Times reported, citing people familiar with the case.

“The video showed Dr. DeRemer giving one of the women an extended embrace, and was reviewed as part of a criminal investigation, one of the people said.

A source who spoke with MS Now said in that incident, Dr. DeRemer is seen giving that woman a hug that went on for too long and turned “creepy,” according to that news outlet.

The Labor Department’s inspector general, an internal watchdog, is investigating the situation, according to The Times. The paper also reported that Washington’s Metropolitan Police Department on Jan. 24 filed a report about forced sexual contact at the department in December.

CNBC obtained a public copy of that police report, which says, “The complainant reported a sexual contact against her will” during an incident at 11:30 a.m. ET on Dec. 18 at the Department of Labor building.

The complainant’s name was not given in the public copy of the report, nor was the name of the alleged assailant.

The inspector general’s office would not confirm or deny it was conducting an investigation when contacted by CNBC.

Dr. DeRemer, the Labor Department, the Police Department and the White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment from CNBC.

Also, the Secretary of Labor has allegedly been having an affair with her bodyguard.

The Times in late January reported that a member of Secretary Chavez-DeRemer’s security detail with whom she had been accused of having a romantic relationship, had been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation by the inspector general.

Her husband is a creep and she's possibly an adulterer... how's her job performance?

He sounds creepy, but hugging someone "too long" is a perfect description of where we are as a society. It'll be up to our esteemed legal system to decide how long hugs can be now.

Yeah, I wanted to address that... but didn't want to come off as a creep apologist.

A hug is okay, but a longer hug is now a crime? I don't get it, unless he grabbed her arse or groped her chest or something sexually overt. This is assuming, of course, that "a hug" was mutual to begin with.

Long hugs to people you don’t know well is weird. Given there’s multiple complaints Ol baw was probably copping a feel

The Mike Pence rule is a good one to follow, especially in this day and age

So weird that there'll likely be lawsuits and lawyers and all the bullshite that comes with it.

So is 1 second too long worth $1 million? Half mil for each second past comfort level, or does the victim get to decide the ratio?

If some stranger or your boss started hugging your wife for 5+ seconds, would you think that’s appropriate? They have footage of it, I doubt they would waste their time investigating something that would get laughed out of court

Best case scenario he is dumb for not following the Mike pence rule and his wife is an adulterer, worst case he is a perv and his wife an adulterer

Either way there’s no reason this family should be in the cabinet

Most of the people who made fun of him for it are the same people who would take a compliment or niceties the wrong way

Holding doors etc is all still fine, but I don’t take 1v1 work meetings with women with closed doors and I don’t greet women with hugs. You just never know these days

What happened to strangers just shaking hands? Hugging is not appropriate.

I know a guy who was in a grocery store in Atlanta and their was a worker bent over setting up some kind of display this guy put his hand on her shoulder and started to ask her where he could find some random item but she immediately started screaming for him to get his hands off of her. Security was called and he was photographed and banned from the store for 6 months for touching this woman. This guy is a great dude but we all still give him hell about being a pervert and getting banned from a store.
