When did society decide children in public were a nuisance?

I feel like kids being kids in public places used to be more accepted. Now kids in public are expected to be quiet, not move around, and not disturb anyone.
Obviously, I’m not talking about out of control kids, that’s different. Talking about kids playing outside at a restaurant, kids being noisy in a hotel or public transportation, things like that. I think the expectation for people‘s kids to not disturb. Anyone is one of the reasons why so many parents shove screens in their faces anytime they are in public. So what if a four year-old is being noisy in a restaurant, a four-year-old shouldn’t be able to sit quietly at a table for an hour, why do we expect that now?

Kids should not be allowed at breweries/primarily drinking establishments.

I haven’t noticed this. Usually as long as your kids aren’t being obnoxious, and I’m usually the hardest critic of my kids, I haven’t found this to be an issue at all.

I’m not talking about screaming running though the hallways at 1 AM. I’m more talking about kids running around in a lobby or a hotel lounge.
I guess I just don’t see why society discourages kids to run around and play in public nowadays. If you don’t want to be around kids and go somewhere, that’s adults only.

The epic arse whooping parents would give kids that stepped out of line was more uncomfortable to watch than the kid being disruptive.

I gave you an upvote. Old people have forgotten what it's like to raise kids, and young people are either childless or think the world revolves around them. Planes, church, restaurants...those are places where adults will be quiet but kids don't always know the difference. As long as your kid isn't being over the top and you're doing your best to manage it, frick whoever has a problem with it

And the people that want to complain about noisy, kids are also the first ones to complain about kids looking at screens too much.

Yeah most (not all) of the breweries around here are aimed at families. I bring my son all the time.

I honestly feel it's like the other fatigue, the really bad kids and equally bad parents have ruined it for the kids that just want to do kid stuff.

I also just learned that not allowing kids at weddings is a thing. I was blown away. Kids are usually the majority of the entertainment at weddings.

because a lot of parents let their kids run wild. Was in Office Depot a few years ago, little kids were running full speed around the entire store, making racket of course. Mommy did nothing. Went to a hibachi place. Same thing, kids ran around the restaurant the whole time, making laps. Parents thought it was funny. Went to La Cazuela and Ms. Hood Rat comes in with her two kids, yaps the whole time on her phone from when she walked in to when she left. Kids ran around the whole time, were going up to other patrons and bugging them, climbing on tables. Mom did nothing.

The problem isn’t “kids being kids”. It’s that their lazy, trashy parents instill zero discipline in them and make excuses like
Leave your spawn at home if they can’t sit still and be quiet for an hour. You had them. You make the sacrifice. The rest of us shouldn’t have to listen to your ill mannered child because you cannot or will not teach them some manners and to be considerate of others. Or take them to a kid friendly dump where such behavior is to be expected. The rest of us raised our kids or didn’t have them and don’t feel like having to put up with yours. Simple as that.

But the flip side is adults did not interrupt you playing as long as you weren’t doing something wrong or out of control.
