Hard to not be excited about this baseball team…

If we don’t win a natty this year it won’t be because we suck - the teams that eliminate us will
Need to be elite. I really like our chances. :Geaux:

Too early to make any real predictions, but we’re going to be an offensive juggernaut

I don’t know. I’ve been hearing there’s lots of cause for concern regarding the pitching.

Let these guys settle in on the mound.
Remember LSU won the Champ series against UF without Skenes
And last year there were only 2 dominant starters.
Batters are on fire, but odds are a few will go into a slump and come out in time for the finale
Enjoy the ride.

Really hard to repeat. If any school can do it, it’s LSU
Posted on 2/18/26 at 6:58 pm to PSS101
Actually we are the only one with a chance to repeat as we are the only. Champions so we have the best odds of repeating of anyone. Seriously though. Ton of talent and depth on roster. We have probably 14-15 guys that could start somewhere almost any team in the country. Jay has soo many options when injuries or slumps occur. Also have a ton of bullpen depth. It will be fun to watch. Once pitching settles in we will be very tough to beat.

I remember a year ago around this time when Eyanson didnt look sharp his first 2-3 non conference starts and some saying he wouldnt cut it on SEC weekends, appears that turned out just fine.

I'll hold in my excitement until we get into SEC play.

Yeah I had some concerns early on about Eyanson. Beginning of the year he always seemed to get in trouble early and give up a few runs but he would always battle and seemed to have a way to find his groove and settle in after the first two or 3 innings/. Then he got rolling later in year after conference play got going

Have you not learned from the previous seasons about pitching? 2023 and 2025 were the exact same way starting out. And this pitching staff is way deeper than either of those teams as far a talent.

The SEC is definitely stacked this year. Lookin forward to the competition.
I like these tigers though. They seem to have a deep roster with talent on both sides of the plate, and they seem to have some serious team swagger.
It looks like there is leadership in the locker room.
Getting Gavin Guidry back should be huge for team moral. Hes solid as a pitcher.. not some kinda generational talent on the mound, but his main impact seems to be his leadership on the field.
That’s the stuff of champions.
I like this team. Let’s see what they’re made of.

Any with a serious concern level are just those prone to overreaction. Anyone with a zero concern level is the flip side of that coin. My concern level is pretty low, but not zero. Partially because a couple of the pitchers that gave up a lot of runs are guys who have proven themselves in the past.

Not really, through 5 games, look at the stats, 2026 has the worst of the three, in some respects by a lot in every category except strikeout, in which they are the best. The most surprising thing to me about these stats is that 2023 is not tops in any category and worst in strikeouts, though after just a moment's contemplation, it makes sense. 2023 had one very dominant pitcher with a bit of a dropoff after that, while 2025 had two dominant pitchers. Also of note in 2023, LSU gave up 12 earned runs in a loss in game six, and in 2025, LSU gave up 5 earned runs in a loss.

All of this to say that 2026 pitching is a little behind those two NC years. Hitting is ahead. All this will probably work itself out by the start of SEC play, so there is no point in fans stressing about that.

It’s early but starting pitching is not up to par. Hopefully a couple of dominant starters emerge

This is true, but my caveat is that most pitchers have at least one or two bad games. If that is in game one, then it will skew what it looks like way more than if it happens in game 8 or like that.

Yep, slumps are to be expected, hitting streaks as well. We just need the Rant to understand this, just like we are going to lose games this year, I know that is hard for some to understand...

Combined with this team's acknowledged, nation wide, talent with the nation's best head coach & we're in good shape. Catching as many of his podcasts interviews as I can find, not only is he a great on-the-field coach, his incredible mental approach is going to be legendry over time.. He's an avid reader of so many of the greatest sports coaches in the country: all of John Wooden's, books, UConn Geno Auriemma's, Bobby Knight 's, all the Celtic's most recent head coaches books....he was interested in how they handled season's after winning national championships in particular...talks to Skip several times a week often. I can't think of any LSU head coach, in any sport, doing this degree of research. All to educate himself in how to motivate his players mentally.

yep. Bats usually cool off once seeing SEC pitching. Question is do we have an Ace or really really good Johnny Wholestaff?
