Currently 24 hours into an 86 hour fast. Doing the Gary Brecka/Dana White method.
1st 24 hours....water/electrolytes, black coffee only
After 24 hours...bone broth twice/day along with the water/electrolyes and coffee
Any tips?

May not be fasting to you…but it is for me

Not saying there aren't some benefits to fasting but this guy is a charlatan.

24 hours
every time I've done a fast, after about the 2nd or 3rd day I lose my craving for food and frankly don't want to eat so it gets a lot easier.
when you do end it, be sure to phase out of it slowly as you phased into it - your GI tract will thank you for it

I did a 120-hour in 2024. Electrolytes and just try not to overdo activity.
Be prepared for intestinal symptoms as the system empties out.
Long-term, I decided it wasn't worth the issues with re-feeding, etc., to repeat. I do 72-hour, which counts as a long intermittent, several times a year instead.

Upton Sinclair famously didn't like shorter fasts because, as he put it, the first 36 to 48 hours were "where all the trouble is". He viewed that entry period as the struggle and then the fast period was when he was no longer hungry. His sign to eat again was when he got hungry again. I don't know his electrolyte, broth, etc., regimen, or his refeeding protocol, but he did many 10- to 12-day fasts during his life and lived to be 90 - so anecdotally, it doesn't appear dangerous.

Yeah skip the bone broth. Its not needed. Its not gonna help the hunger much and it will break your fast.
Stay busy

I did, in fact, skip the bone broth. After some more research, deciding to break it at 72 hours tonight. Have to work tomorrow morning and would rather have stomach problems (if any) tonight at home as opposed to work tomorrow.

A fast with bone broth is not a fast. The moment you trigger insulin, the fast is broken.

As an older (50) person, the loss of muscle mass on extended fasts may not be worth the benefit of the fast. I will do a 24 hr fast once a month but that is as far as I go

Yes, schedule the colonoscopy now.
Two for 1. You are doing the hard part.

It’s all mental. I did a 72 hr couple weeks ago. Day two sucks. Only did water and black coffee. By the end of it I felt I could keep going but day two was a mental game for sure.

Agreed. You're spot on about day 2. After day 2, it was much easier. I could've gone longer as well, but i felt great after day 2. I lost 7 lbs, which I'm sure is mostly water weight. I will definitely start doing it 2-3 times/year.
