You’d think people would have learned not to try the Donner Pass in winter.

Those who don’t remember the past are condemned to repeat it.

You don’t need no invitation to the Donner Party: just head east from Cali on I-80!

I think we need to redefine the term "blinding,"

Blinding? I've seen it snow harder In Arkansas. That was just slick snow with people that can't drive. Nothing was blinding about it.

We left South Lake Tahoe this morning and had a driver who somehow got us to the Reno airport alive. 50 was still open. I have no clue how he drove in that, I couldn’t even tell what lane we were in. Flights have been tricky but just made our final flight and will get into Nola after midnight. That snow was no joke!

There was also an avalanche with 10 backcountry skiers still unaccounted for.

This guy was a couple miles from it and took this video of the storm.

Donner Pass

Think people would learn to check the weather before going over Donner pass.

ETA: this is just fricking stupid. We have 24 hr weather and anyone with an ounce of brain knows Donner Pass of all places might be prone to bad weather. How the frick do you get stuck up there in a blizzard?

From what I can tell, if it were the crew from the Rex - Comus ball, it would be dog eat dog.

That soccer mom in her 2WD suburban with slick tires may as well be driving a jet ski over the pass.
