Amazing what “command” is. Moore has command. Evans has commend. Guidry may be your number 3 starter.

Yes, way way better. The guy had really shown what a pitcher can do in a day when the 95 mph+ fastball is king.

It’s a real pleasure to watch that young man.

He looks to have added a few extra Mph on his fastball too. We know his 12-6 curve ball is his best pitch but If he can continue to land that new change up, he will be a dominant closer.

Too valuable coming out of the pen.. especially if he can do it 2x/weekend

well, you’re smarter than Johnson and Ben because last season he was working to be just that before his back injury as well documented. I wonder if you actually watched, read or listened to any reports about him and Cowan the last 2+ seasons. Kinda like how Cowan had a huge start when it mattered most. But you’re smarter than Johnson.

Its almost like some people are just too dense to understand how important it is to have guys in the bullpen that you can rely on late to close games.

So what did Ben say when Guidry came in this weekend? How about again tonight about stretching him?
Do you remember?

Here’s a news flash. You need 3 guys that have command 6 innings as starters.

Fontenot? Noot (may be the best option later in the season but he has been inconsistent), Cowan? Rizzy? Schmidt (I don’t have faith in his commend because the same old shite Sunday).
Who’s the number three that has movement on their 2 seamer (not Noot, Fontenot or Schmidt).

I don't see Jay sitting Gavin on the bench on Friday and Saturday nights with games on the line late.

If you have to piece together Sunday's 3 innings at a time then so be it.

Jay literally coaches like the tournament all season. He's gonna work guidry in high leverage out the pen all season. Probably stretch him out a bit as a long reliever.

If we need a tourney start in a pinch he may use him for that. He's not gonna be a regular season starter this year.

Here's a news flash. You need someone you can rely on to close games when SEC play rolls around. You 're not going to be beating people 12-4 very often and you sure as hell don't want to waste 6 or 7 quality innings from your Friday and Saturday starter because your best choice to pitch the 8th and 9th is being forced into a third starter role.
