If 2023 and Skenes is going 9 innings. Could pull off one game.

If they played 20 times, I guarantee they would win at least once. That’s baseball.

Unlike football, a baseball team can absolutely pull one out on occassion vs a pro team.

Lots of down votes from people with no sense of humor. You miserable bastards. lol

Yes, college teams have played exhibitions against MLB teams before and have won. If they played 10 times LSU might pull off 1.

Baseball and hockey are the two sports where it could occasionally happen. Just need a pitcher/goalie to have a lights out game.

True, but if they pitch their ace, odds are very slim unless you have a Skenes on your team

Yes, but you also need their pitcher to have a less-than-stellar game. But it can happen

I’m pretty sure Boston College beat the Red Sox in an exhibition pre season game of some kind in Fenway almost 20 years ago.

As soon as the MLB team got into any college team's bullpen it would become a disaster real fast.

This. If you have an elite ace who goes eight innings, you have a chance to get lucky. If you have to go into your bullpen, or even if they get to see your closer twice, it turns into a home run derby.

Skenes shuts 'em out, one good swing from Crews gets it over the wall and LSU wins 1-0 with spectacular defense in Baton Rouge....take the odds and bet it!

I think the Skenes team could if he went 9 innings, but I doubt this team could beat them.
Either way it's very unlikely. It also depends if they (Yankees) are going all out to win or not.
quote:
In his lone start against the New York Yankees on September 28, 2024, Paul Skenes pitched two perfect innings with three strikeouts. He threw 23 pitches (17 strikes) in his Yankee Stadium debut, facing batters including Juan Soto, Aaron Judge, and Jazz Chisholm Jr.. He did not allow a hit, walk, or run in this appearance, demonstrating early dominance against the Yankees.
Either way it's very unlikely. It also depends if they (Yankees) are going all out to win or not.

If you just told both teams it was the postseason, LSU would sweep

the LSU women could beat the Yankees owing to better fundamentals
