So excited for this! Bao is my closest solid Vietnamese, and it is still not especially close by.

Opening in the old China Taste by George’s Southside. Just passed by and saw the sign.

Nammii will serve a combination of Hong Kong-style and Vietnamese cuisine, with offerings such as dim sum and Vietnamese noodle soups, including hu tieu, a light pork noodle soup from Southern Vietnam. This will be the fourth restaurant for Nguyen and Huynh, operating three other Vietnamese restaurants around Baton Rouge.

Same.

I was trying to find anything about them and couldn't. Glad you located an article.

As a side note, the sign looks infinitely better than the old China Taste sign

Awesome! This is very close to us, and might have to be in our regular rotation. Interesting that they're opening so close to the original Bao though.

I saw that sign going up as well today while my truck wouldn't start at circle k. I'm glad you did the leg work on figuring it out what it was going to be. I'm excited to try it!

Thank goodness it was just a battery.

They had the doors open a while back while renovating when I was walking into George’s and they are doing real work in there. Should look good. Nothing like China Taste.

Looks like they own a place in Gonzales and soon to be Long Farm area of BR called Pho Viet.

Thanks. Makes sense…I had Pho Viet in Gonzales and the food was deliciously Bao-like

Are they expanding into the space next store? Never been in, but that space seems small.

Damn. Just as I’m moving. Parking will be an adventure with a viable option next to George’s.

Bao is literally a 5 min drive from there

But I’m about 10 from George’s, so it’s an improvement.

I consider Bao “another side of town” but not George’s. Don’t question my logic, Upper Deck.

Pho Viet is really good. I particularly like their chicken wings.

I’ll give it a shite because of the dim sum. BR viet good is good but hard for me to get exited bc the menus are so generic and repetitive. BTW, I worked with Tam before all restaurant career. Dude was jacked and reminded me of an Asian Arnold. Super super nice guy.

The Advocate had an article about them today:

quote:

likely open in the first week of March.

quote:

Menu and hours
The menu will feature dishes like egg rolls, shaken beef, rice plates, dumplings, stir fries, bone broths with egg or rice noodles. There will also be bò né, a Vietnamese breakfast dish with eggs, beef and sausage, Nguyen said.

The bar will serve Vietnamese beer, as well as wine and specialty Asian cocktails.

Once the restaurant opens in March, the hours will be 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and closed Sundays.

I mean I guess you could do better as far as size but all the restaurants around there (Goerge's Sammy's, Johnny's, Waffle House, Blue Store Chicken) are doing well. The parking lot to the left of dry cleaners is always empty so I would imagine it could handle over flow if there is any.
