The cost of a long career in fighting, especially back in the 90s/early 00s

The combination of his right bicep, clearly being on enhancements, and his inability to turn his neck (he has to turn his whole upper body) is just creating a freak show.

It's crazy that so many guys go into this to end up here and will make no money (unlike Bas, who is an OG and one of the best strikers ever).

There was a video on YouTube of Bas demonstrating how to bar fight and it was awesome. He was picking up ketchup bottles, chairs, bartender supplies etc and using them as weapons talked about gouging out eyeballs and trying to rip ears off He definitely knows his shite and will do literally anything to win a fight nothing is off limits to him which is how it should be.

I wish Urlacker would've went outside when he was trying to talk shite to Rutten.

I watch that weekly - pretty the top comment is “how to turn a minor disagreement into a first degree murder charge” hah.

I read one comment where someone said, now I know how to handle my mother in law when she smarts off to me at Thanksgiving dinner.

“Cyborg” is the word you’re looking for; not alien.

I know how I feel as a suburban, white collar dad the morning after light training. I can't imagine how career fighters must feel waking up in the morning age 50 years and older.

You should hope to look that lean and muscularly defined at age 60 as he is.

The guy had 49 professional bouts between his career in the ring as a kickboxer and MMA fighter. Add to that the years of punishing training to achieve what he has in his lifetime and it's surprising he can even function without multiple aches and pains.

He's one of those guys you just need to look at to know it's best to leave him alone if he wants to be left alone.

Bas is such a character. Truly one of a kind. Tons of respect for the guy and it's great that he was able to achieve financial success in an industry where a lot of guys dont end up doing great after their careers (especially in that era)

Yeah and it's still going on today. How do you think guys like Nick and Nate Diaz are going to fare as they age. Both of them talk like they have scrambled eggs for brains and I don't think they made so much money in their MMA careers to have a great life post fighting.

I've seen several stories in the news about B.J. Penn who assaulted his mother telling authorities he believes his family has been replaced by imposters. The cheese has slid off his cracker for sure from all the punches and kicks his melon has taken over his career.

Yeah, it really does put a lot on fighters to not be taken advantage of when they dont really have a lot of other options. And Penn actually made more than the vast majority.

He has a pinched nerve in his neck that makes his right arm lose muscle and he can't do anything about it. Same injury that Paul orndorff had in wrestling years ago. He would beat the brakes off of 99 percent of the people his age and probably most everyone on this board.
