It has been revealed that Lutnick lied about his previous associations with Epstein.

I know this is unpopular opinion but Lutnick needs to resign. He's going to be a MAJOR pain in the arse for Trump going forward.
If Lutnick doesn't quietly resign he's going to get more and more media attention and not in a good way.
You can't first say you had little association with Epstein, then after the files are released which reveal you were a regular Epstein associate even after Epstein was convicted.
Dude, WTF are you doing? Having a social lunch outing with a world renowned sex offender with your family no-less, not a good look.

Lutnick is a political liability for the Trump administration at this point. If Lutnick doesn't resign this crap is going to hang over the Trump Administration for the rest of his term.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick on Tuesday was grilled on Capitol Hill about his past association with Jeffrey Epstein, following revelations that the two men remained in contact years after Lutnick suggested he had distanced himself from the convicted sex offender.
Lutnick strongly denied any wrongdoing, but one Democrat said he had "totally misrepresented" the extent of their relationship "to the Congress, to the American people and to the survivors of his despicable criminal and predatory acts."
Appearing before a Senate Appropriations subcommittee, Lutnick was asked repeatedly about his correspondence with Epstein detailed in files recently released by the Justice Department, and President Donald Trump's commerce secretary revealed he visited Epstein's Caribbean island in 2012 with his family and others.

"I did have lunch with him, as I was on a boat going across on a family vacation. My wife was with me, as were my four children and nannies," Lutnick testified under questioning by Democratic Sen. Chris Van Hollen of Maryland.
"We had lunch on the island, that is true, for an hour, and we left with all of my children, with my nannies and my wife all together," he said.

A spokesperson for the Department of Commerce told ABC News on Monday, "Mr. and Mrs. Lutnick met Jeffrey Epstein in 2005 and had very limited interactions with him over the next 14 years."
However, the documents released over a week ago showed one email from Epstein's schedule for May 1, 2011, showing plans for drinks with Lutnick.
Legal documents also showed both Lutnick and Epstein invested in the same business in 2012.

Did Lutnick break any laws? If the media pressures Lutnick without intense pressure on those who actually exploited the kids, why should Lutnick step down?

Politics.
I could be wrong but usually when there's blood in the water the media will spiral around it relentlessly.
Maybe I'm totally reading this wrong and the story will just go away.

I get that but you do not want to be in the position of defending Lutnick from Democrat and media attacks. Terrible optics.

It was stupidly to meet with Epstein AFTER he was already convicted.
It was stupid to lie about it.
Nobody assumes Lutnick is a pedophile.
But everyone now knows he only tells the truth when he is forced to under oath.
So he’s a liability.

Lutnick is a money guy. Might he had to hold his nose to hear Epstein opine about money and other financial issues?

This admin must and will stand up to the enemy of the people, the media.

I'm tired of this phrase too.
You know who doesn't give a fluff about terrible optics? Democrats.
Yesterday I believe one of them told a dude he was going to hell in some kid of congressional hearing, over ICE/BP work.
Screw optics.

I actually agree with this, however I doubt this standard will be applied to people who are caught in the crossfire of guilt by association.
But we don’t live in that world. We live in a world where association with Epstein is indicative something nefarious, because why on earth would anyone associate with him at all.
God forbid if Lutnick and family ate pizza or consumed grape soda while dining with Epstein.

He lied to Congress and took his children to pedo island, but as usual MAGA says "so what."

Okay. If this is the fight you think Trump should spend energy on, so be it. I just disagree. Force Lutnick to resign, replace him and in two months this story is an afterthought. Otherwise the wound will fester a long as Lutnick remains.
Choices.

quote:It won't just go away. But we no longer live in a world in which apology or quiet resignation resolves anything. Quite the contrary. Today's reality is apology or resignation is regarded as a guilty plea and an opening for further more incendiary attacks. So Lutnick's resignation, if he is not guilty of a crime (or perhaps not even guilty of bad judgement), will not make it go away.
I'm totally reading this wrong and the story will just go away.

You want an administration hanging out with a pedo to be in office? Cool.
