Born to an American father and Chinese mother, she grew up in affluence in San Francisco. She attended the best private school, got her degree at Stanford, and trained for the Winter Olympics in the United States before competing against her native country as part of the Chinese Olympic Team.

This isn’t a rare thing. Folks who grew up in America but are 1st or 2nd generation immigrants have frequently competed for the olympic teams of their parents rather than the U.S.

I dont like it, but outside of the winter Olympics you'll never hear from her in the US she is a huge cultural figure in China.
What sucks is she was supposed to be team USA four years ago and right before qualifying she jumped ship because China dropped that bag .

Its not something to get that worked up over. I’d rather an athlete born to an immigrant parent choose to represent their parent’s home country than to have athletes representing the US using the opportunity to shite on the US at the Olympics like some of our skiers
