Reserving Parking at MSY

Flying out on Monday next week and I assume the already undersized parking garages will be maxed out with a lot of LA leaving for Mardi Gras.
I've never reserved parking ahead of time - usually just end up checking the MSY garage website on the drive to the airport and pivot to USPark if long term and short term are full.
So my question - how do they ensure you have a spot if you reserve ahead of time and the Long Term garage ends up being FULL when you get there?

I would assume, but have not tested it, that they hold back some spots for reservations. Be sure to reserve a FULL 24 hours before the start of the day you want to park.

I have never reserved a full 24 hours in advance of when I want to park and I’ve never run into an issue. Flying out Sunday and have my reservation starting Sunday two hours before my flight.
I think it even says you have to enter within two hours of your reservation start time.

I think there was something lost in translation here.
The website requires that you MAKE YOUR RESERVATION a full 24 hours before you plan to park.
In other words, if you plan to pull into the garage on Monday at 9:00am. You have to get on the website and make the reservation prior to Sunday at 8:59am.
NOT RESERVE THE SPACE FOR SUNDAY but make the reservation on Sunday to pull in at 9:00 Monday morning. If you get on the website 23 hours in advance, it won't let you make the reservation.
Heck, I am confusing myself writing this out. Make you reservation in advance but not reserve the spot prior to your arrival.

No, it means to make the reservation a full day before. You only need to book for the dates you're traveling though.
Short term will sell out first, then long term then surface. Personally, IMO, if you're not parking in short term and spending the extra money you're better off in the economy garage (covered parking as opposed to uncovered with US Park) and the ability to check your bags right there at the garage and essentially skip the entire terminal and head straight to security / concourse.
Long term at MSY sucks for the price. If they added baggage check in the garage, maybe so but if I am not parking short term, it's economy every time.
$130 for short term makes sense to me, $110 for long term does not

You pay, you get a QR code to scan in. There will be a spot. It may be on the roof, but you'll have one. The lane will likely be blocked to get into long term by a sign that says FULL. Show the security person your parking receipt and QR.
See ya Monday!

I think this is correct. That the reservation has to be made 24 hrs before you plan to park. It really is strange and I only found out when I tried to do it a few years back. You can go online and play around with it. You definitely do not need to pay/reserve an EXTRA day ahead, just make the reservation a few days prior to the day you are going to arrive. I hope that makes sense.

Correct. I bought mine yesterday. I fly Monday at 09:00'ish. I started my parking for Monday at 07:00. I also set it to expire two hours after I land although I doubt that matters since it is daily parking.

My husband and I haven't either until we were put in that economy garage a few months ago. We were running late to begin with, and it was a bit of a cluster. The shuttle does run back and forth every 15 minutes or so, but it was extremely sketchy at night. Do not recommend.

US Park. They had a pretty good sale going on when we left for a week last year. Out the door for 7 days was right at $100 after all the sales. Was happy with the service and shuttles.

I just got 6 days for $132 and I’m 50 feet from the airport. It’s really not a bad deal. Especially if you’re traveling with kids.
