Men always seem to be at the top of rankings as famous physicists, scientists, engineers and so on. But what about famous woman intellectual talent? Who’s the smartest woman you’ve ever heard of?

For me, still need more time as I scrape the archives. But will post here as soon as I find her.

I think we have our winner. I wonder how big the margin is between 1st and 2nd place as smartest woman? She was something else.

Hedy Lamar was smart and hot.

She invented a "frequency-hopping" spread-spectrum technology during WWII. While often cited as aiding torpedo guidance, this 1942 patent serves as the foundational, underlying technology for modern wireless communications, including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS.

I always thought it was the woman who had answered questions in the Parade magazine that came with the Sunday paper.

Edit: I see someone already posted her name. Marilyn vos Savant

I remember she had 1000’s of college professors and PhDs arguing with her on her Monty Hall question/answer.

quote:

Imagine you are on a game show. There are three doors: behind one is a car, and behind the other two are goats. You pick a door, say #1. The host (Monty Hall), who knows what is behind the doors, opens another door (say #3), which he knows has a goat. He then asks: "Do you want to switch to door #2?" Is it to your advantage to switch? Her Answer: "Yes; you should switch." She stated that the original door has a 1/3 chance of winning, but the remaining door has a 2/3 chance.
