Me neither until today.
Scott parade was absolutely terrible. Heard from family that the carencro parade got cancelled altogether.
Wtf is going on down here baw?
Rio parade in Lafayette tonight saved the weekend but damn.

In Houma, one year it was raining so all the bands pulled out. It was just the throwing floats going as fast as possible. Some of the older Krewes do not have as many floats. Krewes like Hercules have over forty floats, while Houmas is barely scraping by with about 20ish, but they do have competition because Kajuns follows them and dues are not as expensive.
This year must have been a record for Hercules to get downtown with as many floats as they have. Aquarius, a women’s Krewe, on the other hand was as slow as molasses with fewer floats.

That one has never really been very long but last year while the floats were lining up they decided to start enforcing a rule they’d never enforced about wheels sticking out past truck fenders and were pretty anal about it and kicked out about half the floats morning-of. Tons of people said they’d never enter again. I’m sure they picked up a couple entries with Carencro cancelling but last I saw they had ~30 floats when in year past I think it’s been 60+.

Noticing a trend here and may have identified why you had a shitty day.

Eve's first year (Mandeville) was a joke and lasted about 20 minutes. They had multiple back to back floats with no bands or marching orgs in between.
Its grown every year since then.

Shouldn't you staunch Catholics be prepping for Mass and resting on this fine Sunday?

Our car group with city, state, sheriff, marshal's office, fire departments will have a drive through Mardi Gras parade Tues at a local children's home. We all line up a half mile down the road and pass through the gates with lights, sirens and horns blasting. The kids are showered with beads, candy and stuffed animals. And, an ice cream van will be part of the caravan.
The parade will last 15-20 minutes, but the smiles last the rest of the day.

At what point is it not worth the expense to the city in terms of security and logistics (putting up barriers)? 30 ish floats? come on man.
There's videos out there of mobs of Acadiana high students fighting in front of fezzo's and the SPD looking like keystone cops chasing them all around the frontage road. I'm sure all the overtime hours were worth this kind of publicity for the city.
One of the reasons it's smaller is because they moved the parade from Sunday to Saturday to get more participation - but they're now competing with Rio - and I know a lot of people who were in both parades and dropped the Scott parade because Rio is a much bigger deal.

Went to Pontchatoula Saturday for some shopping and lunch with the lady. Walked out a shop and there where people lined up on the street and roads were blocked. We asked damn is there a parade today. Cop said yep. Total surprise.
So we walked over to the district for lunch. Window view and thought oh cool we get eat lunch and watch the parade.
The parade was over before food came out.
Few jeeps. Few corvettes. A flatbed and two garage dance groups.
15 minutes tops.

Rio kind of sucked. Not a lot of riders on the floats and not a lot of good throws.

I went to Sam’s at 7 am this morning in Houma for gas. I could hear music coming from the Mall Parking lot. When I left, I could see people already at their spots for a parade that starts at 12:30.

Sounds more like a light Fri night in Chalmette.

Carencro was supposed to be last weekend. They jumped the gun and canceled a week ahead because of a bogus weather forecast....

Lafayette, Scott, Youngsville have 3 of the worst parades for Mardi Gras

Really?
Rio is an actual krewe while Scott is a bunch of Shane’s with $100 and a trailer

You spend more time finding parking than watching the parade. What’s the point.
