All violent crimes should should be punished by hanging.
But you could reduce crime 80% by doing one thing: Prison sentences should include monthly canings. If someone gets a 10-year sentence for armed robbery, he/she gets 10 lashes the first Monday each month for the duration of the sentence.
Even a convicted murderer who is put of death row gets 20 lashes per month until executed.
A three-year sentence for drug trafficking - 10 lashes per month.
I guarantee you this would cut crime 80%.

I agree more with the public hanging.
"Cruel and unusual punishment is prohibited by the Eighth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution (and 14th Amendment for states) that are barbaric, disproportionate to the crime, or entail unnecessary pain"

I think murderers should be executed exactly how they killed their victim.
Thieves should have their hands cut off.
Perjurors should have their tongues cut out.
Rapists should have their dicks cut off.
Child molestors should be hanged.
Save the taxpayers money by simply performing these quick punishments instead of years in prison. Prison should exist as a temporary holding to allow time for appeals, which must be done within 2 years. Then carry out the sentence and be done with it.
