Quicksand

Everything they tried only made it worse. Maybe next time, Kim will use a timeout.

Its not overly complicated. If the game is refereed like it was tonight, where it is allowed to be extremely physical, LSU will have a really difficult time beating Texas. They're bigger and much more physical. If its called more like a basketball game, LSU will have a solid chance.

I certainly did not like the officiating, but the way they turned the ball over by repeatedly throwing it directly to Texas is on the players.

They have turnovers all year. They don’t pass the ball well. I love to see Fulwiley play but she’s terrible with turnovers.

While I understand what you are saying, I'm not sure the game you are referring to has been around for a while. The refs have let it get much more physical for years now. Driving into the defensive player with a shoulder down gets the blocking foul almost every time, even though the offensive player initiated the contact no matter the team.

What upsets me the most in BB both Men and Women is that if a team starts out aggressive, they can stay aggressive the whole game without much change or calls against. If the other team starts out playing "proper defense" and then later matches the opponent's aggressiveness they get a foul called every time.

I'm old and from a time if you put a hand on the other player (current hand check) that was a foul. You are not supposed to touch them. This is one of the many reasons I don't regularly watch BB except for the Tigers.

I’m not really worried about it. No NCAA game will ever be reffed like that. They let em maul us and we just got frustrated and then no one was hitting in the second half.
Harmon won’t be allowed to just run around fouling people away from Austin.
And we prob played our worst game of the year.
Kim didn’t seem overly pissed off.

She missed the post game radio interview because they were still in the locker room...I think she was pretty pissed.

I don't disagree, but tonight I thought was excessively physical, with an exceptional amount of bumping and impeding dribblers allowed by the refs, which unquestionably favors a team who plays full court defense the entire game. Texas made a habit of hedging any screen set for Williams or Johnson, and it usually involved a serious bump which stopped their momentum. I don't think it was called a foul the entire night. And certainly LSU was allowed to get away with physical play as well. But that's Texas' game, not LSUs. It just is what it is. How a game is officiated is really important when two teams are as different as LSU and Texas are.

It wasn't fear, it was low energy.

And Booker traveled nearly every time she started her dribble.

All of this!^^^^^^^^^^^

Let's not get too overly upset though, everyone. Remember this was a Texas home game. You expect the officiating to be somewhat biased. I really don't think that's why we lost this game though.

I said this in another thread. UT pressured the ball from the end line all game and forced LSU to fight all the way up the court. Even if you dont get a turnover your opponent has burned half the play clock just getting to an offensive set. We got caught with time dwindling on the play clock about every 3rd possession and took pitiful shots as a result.

It was not just the physical play. LSU was not mentally prepared for another team to get after them and harass them non stop all game.

Have you seen the post game presser? She’s not happy. But far from pissed off.

Agree, they had impacts and collisions similar to hockey with no calls!

Mulkey knew a timeout would not help with how the girls fell apart and started playing stupidly. There were two left o. the board.
