Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.) announced Wednesday he will not seek reelection, ending his congressional career after more than a decade and adding to the ranks of Republicans declining to run for another term.
“I first ran for election to Congress in 2014 and, as I stated then, representing the people in Congress is a service, not a career; and although I continue to have strong support from the people of the Eleventh Congressional District, I believe it is time to contribute to my community, state, and nation in other ways,” Loudermilk, 62, said in a statement. “Therefore, I have decided not to seek re-election at the end of my current term in Congress.”
Loudermilk is the 29th Republican member of the House to say they will not seek reelection in 2026 — either to retire or to seek higher office — as Republicans brace for a tough midterm election. Loudermilk’s northern Georgia district is reliably Republican.
“I have learned throughout my life that doing what is right is not always easy, convenient, or popular. My wife and I have prayed diligently and discussed this extensively; and, while this is not an easy decision, we believe it is the right one. While serving my constituents in Congress ranks among my greatest honors, being a husband, a father, and a grandfather holds even greater importance to me; and at this time, I wish to spend more dedicated time with my family,” Loudermilk said.

Yea, the midterms are toast.
They need to get as much accomplished as possible, but there's just far too many Rinos.

What's the tally so far, retiring Rs vs. retiring Ds?

GA-11 has a Cook PVI of R+17. Should hold.

R’s = 29
D’s = 13
Feckless RINOs want to lose.

I think it’s somewhat around 20 Democrats retiring versus 29 Republicans retiring.
Loudermilk’s district is red. He’s my Congressman. He’s not great, decent. He kept voting billions for Ukraine until Johnson became Speaker and turned off the spigot from a gush to a trickle.

Worse than I thought.
Democrats live their lives on the fricking government dole.

Probably the case they are all compromised and being told to quit.
Politicians of all stripes know what's coming and it's turned into a free for all raiding the US treasury.

He is just another example of a useless Republican who is fleeing the sinking ship they built

I hope they do and implement the most destructive policies humanly possible. The suburban white voter needs to suffer the consequences of being ambivalent towards politicians

Curious. He's my Congressman.

I know him pretty well and he's never been shy about telling people that he did not see this as a lifetime gig.
I wouldn't read too much into this as anything other than he's ready to turn the page.

They don’t want to be in the minority. They’ve stolen enough to be able to comfortably retire.
