Looking around for something to watch and stumbled across Mr. Mercedes. Vaguely remember starting the book and not finishing but can’t remember why. Any thoughts on this show? Looks like 3 seasons. Any good?

I'm also curious. Meant to give this a try after watching The Outsider on HBO but it ended up falling of my radar. I'm wondering how Mr Mercedes compares to that one.

Same. I know the main story shifts in S3, but I think it was also a solid season.

My best recollection is that Season 1 is very good.
Season 2 is a little disjointed at times and gets almost too dark. Even the good guys go down some dark holes.
Season 3 has a needed tone shift. Again, I don’t remember all the specifics, but I know I enjoyed it more than S2.

I definitely recommend giving it a shot.

Read the book and enjoyed it. The series did a good job with being fairly true to the source material. I'd recommend. In fact, may be time for a re-watch.

Also, Brendan Gleeson makes everything he is in better...

We actually just finished the series last night. If you’ve read the books you know book 2 is a different main story from book 1 and book 3. Season 1 is book 1 and very good. Season 2 is book 3 and is ok but strays from the book storyline way more than season 1 but not so much it ruined it completely. It’s a definite step down from season 1 but still ok. Season 3 is book 2 and is pretty faithful to the book. It’s a different main storyline and a more grounded in reality story. It’s pretty good but a really different tone than the other two seasons. You also get to see Captain Janeway from Voyager play a completely different type of character Her accent is pretty damn awful though.

The Outsider actually race swapped one of the main characters from Mr. Mercedes. The actress in Mr. Mercedes really nails the character from the books.

I enjoyed the books. Didn't realize it was a show. Typical to form i doubt it matches up.

First season was fantastic. Can't remember much about the rest of it. It's been a while since I watched it.

I've seen both and thought they were both very good.

Justine Lupe (Succession) played the part of Holly Gibney in Mr. Mercedes.

Cynthia Erivo (Wicked) played the part in The Outsider.

I remember it being pretty good.

Have you seen “Mr. Inbetween”? Man that was an awesome show that not a lot of people know about. I really wish there would have been more seasons of that.
