I seem to recall some folks purchasing lobsters from a Food & Drink Board poster with very good results.

as long as the product is flash frozen and the reviews are good go for it. Dover sole is highly perishable so it’s undoubtedly going to be frozen right after the catch which is best for most seafood as you avoid issues due to poor handling

Yep! We would get 2 #25 cases of IQF Dover Sole per week. Great quality and fun to clean. Sometimes we were lucky enough find roe sacks in the fish which were repurposed for all sorts of fun projects.

Never ordered Sole, but the salmon from Alaskan Fishing Co. sucked arse. can barely give it away.

It was almost like a Seinfeld episode.

I’m just curious what are you trying to do OP? There’s no fresh alternatives?

Wulf in Boston and Fulton Fish Market New York are both good. LINK , LINK . Wulf shows dover sole on the web. Fulton did not when I searched, but subscribers can enter a wish list. IMHO west coast Petrale sole is equal and more available. If you are near a Whole Foods check their frozen fish selection. Wherever you place an order getting a good product requires that a long supply chain must do everything right. Expect an occasional miss.

I long for the days of those cheap lobsters straight off the boat that fell off the truck.

I purchased fresh fish from Keys Fresh Seafood Market in Key West. Got some mangrove snapper and black grouper. Shipped fresh, never frozen. It was delicious especially the mangrove. I don’t know if they sell Dover sole though.

RIP Chalet Brandt. They used to serve them once a week. Deboned table-side.
