Soon it'll be competing with March Madness

Of course the Rose Bowl keeps its NYD date while Sugar Bowl gets pushed to 1/15/27. Just ridiculous.

Still better than the Fiesta Bowl hosting on Wednesday, December 30. A full two days before the Cotton, Peach, and Rose.

What in the world is the reason for the 2 week break. It makes no sense.

Round 2 needs to be on campus as well. That way a lot of those bowls can go back to being bowl games (non playoff) that players might actually play in.

Two weeks between quarterfinals and semi-finals is so stupid.

So the Rose Bowl passed on being a semifinal game next year? It was their turn to be paired up with the Sugar Bowl.

I guess they are dead-set on keeping that January 1st date.

The Sugar Bowl chose to be a semifinal venue. I am sure they had the same option as the Rose Bowl.

The Rose has chosen to forego its rotation spot as a semifinal to remain a quarterfinal and keep its 01/01 date. The other NY6 bowls (including the Sugar) are not complaining about getting to be a semifinal more frequently than they would otherwise.

NFL

For the next two years their wild card weekend falls on the same timeframe as the CFP champ game, meaning an NFL game on that Monday night. So the champ game got bumped to the following week, meaning pick your poison on whether the break falls between quarters/semis or semis/finals.

So the Final will be around 155 days from the start of the Season.

They've created two CFB seasons... Following March Madness... We now have a Preseason until November. Oh October, you used to BE CFB...now you're a warm-up, scrimmages for the Playoffs.

You have saturday-monday. Pretty easy to find a spot that doesn't compete with the NFL

ESPN doesn't have rights to the Superbowl.

The goal for them would be to make this the Saturday before Superbowl Sunday to get eyeballs on their network instead of the Superbowl hype shows on the network carrying the Superbowl.

And have something for their shows and analysts to talk about and promote that's not carried by another network

College Football is just exhausting now. I know the ratings might prove otherwise but it just feels like the fun is being sucked right out of it.

I honestly believe that if it wasn't for betting the whole thing would trending downward.

I saw a tweet that pointed out the midpoint on the calendar for the college football season is technically week 11 in early November, because of all the dead time in December and January artificially extending the end. One regular season game left and you're only half way to the end time wise

TV. So really, money. Same thing on which every important college football decision is based.
