I mean they had some good songs. nothing special. Then he went all political so I haven't listened to them in YEARS.

Once Billie Joe sniffed a bit of fame, he turned into a raving prick.

Agree. They were mediocre pop "punk" and then started sniffing their own farts. Not unique or special in any way.

Yep. Basket Case is great. When I Come Around is really good. Virtually everything else is generic and I never could imagine actually having been a fan that spent money on any of this.

Some of their earlier stuff before Dookie was decent too. 2000 Light Years Away, Christie Road, and Going to Pasalacqua were all good. I've never been the biggest Green Day fan, but they went to absolute shite IMO after the Insomniac album.

Billy Joe is a rich, out-of-touch, politically-moronic douchebag. But he has always been great at writing catchy songs. Dookie was great and they basically had good songs on all of the following records even if the records weren't as good as Dookie. American Idiot was a great album too all the way through even if I don't agree with any of his politics.

Other than the big hits, J. A.R. from the Angus Soundtrack and 86 from Insomniac were really good ones. Most of their catalogue sounds the same, but catchy nonetheless.

Oh shite, the punk band was political? That's so odd.

Ok, you want to go there?

Remove JUST those lyrics from the song “American Idiot” and it can easily be interpreted as an indictment of the left. Ole Billie Joe would never admit that, though.

American idiot was a damn good album. frick the haters. Nimrod, insomniac both better albums than Dookie. Warning is an ok album.

1039 and Kerplunk both solid early 90s pop punk albums as well.

The songs post American idiot pretty meh though outside of a handful.

For sure. He’s a retard. But he’s written some very catchy songs over the years.
