I cannot in good faith because I’m not well versed but still curious of the discussion.

Some examples
ER - is this the GOAT?
St. Elsewhere.
Trapper John MD
Grey’s Anatomy
The Pitt - new guy but seems great.
Other?

I think ER and House are the only ones I ever watched so I'll go with those.

ER and the first few seasons of Grey’s Anatomy are at the top for me for hospital dramas

Subtopic: Is The Pitt even a fair comparison?
It’s like 98% pure immersion compared to other shows having a balance of personal life stuff. Love it.

Over the summer I watched Ben Casey for the first time. Some of the early episodes are not bad.

I believe this is George C. Scott's only guest star appearance on a TV series

Speaking of Scott:

For me

#1. The Pitt
Close #2. Nurse Jackie

Grey’s Anatomy was good when it first came out in early 2000’s, but it became a show where straight men did not admit they watched it even if they enjoyed it (TOO much female drama)

ER was very popular but I never watched it

I heard older folks talk about St. Elsewhere since the popularity of The Pitt, but I had never heard of it before last year.

MASH is my GAOT and St. Elsewhere is a very close number 2.

It’s our current going to sleep show on HBO MAX, I didn’t realize it went for 15 seasons.

Granted it’s probably more like 50/50 Medical Adventure/Hospital Drama.

One called 'Medical Center' was big in the 70's. Chad Everett was the big star from it.

Medical Center TV Series 1969–1976 on IMDb

Probably some leisure suits and side burns to make it feel dated.

Emergency! actually had it's own spinoff cartoon series.
