Doesn’t that free up some TV revenue money for baseball and WBB?

Why would fertitta give Lane/LSU any money?
He is Cougar high’s biggest alumni and donor

He likes basketball too. Maybe he can throw a few nuggets to the MBB program to turn it around with new coach. Drop in the bucket for him

Plus he owns a casino in LA. He could help fund two programs if he wants.

Lane had a reason for being at the Rockets game with the Fertittas. This isn’t random.

He doesn’t have to give anything to LSU. However, his son will inherit a fortune and probably donate a lot to LSU.

It’s a very interesting connection with the son that I had no clue on.

Fertitta loves sports obviously and has plenty of wealth. Even if it’s not direct donations having that connection with all the restaurants he has in LA it will be NIL opportunities.

Lane knows exactly what he is doing.

Houston alone is full of multimillionaire Alumni and Tiger Fans. Great place to be seen representing the brand. Having the interest of the Fertittas could potentially be a game changer.

I think Fertitta expressed interest in buying the Saints a few years back

Is this a fact? I find it hard to believe that Lane spent hours hanging out with him and his son just for the fun of it

Exactly. Lane didnt go over there just to try and strike up a random friendship for no reason.

Wasn't Fertitta's brother a walk-on football player at LSU?

Kinda surprising his son went to LSU. I would’ve expected his son either goes to UofH or to some upper tier school

The TV revenue dispersion model for football is a pretty standard 70-75% across the country and in particular the SEC. Its not being lowered for any other sport for any reason. Its all their money. The only real reason its being split is title ix. Without title ix, most secondary sports wouldnt get anything at all from revenue share.

They need to give any additional money to Men's basketball once they hire a new coach in March

This is where it’s helpful when the governor and state legislature are aligned behind LSU athletics. Slip a tax credit in a bill nobody reads for the casino. Save him x millions a year in taxes. He in turn donates a % of the savings to NIL. It’s a win for all parties involved. Yall catching on yet?

Besides having oil royalties coming in every month in perpetuity like some of the Texas schools, LSU is in prime position to lead the nation in NIL every year because it can generate money that is not scraping the pockets of doners every year.

He has a few kids, the LSU Grad works in the Fertitta Auto Group. Still a great networking opportunity to get some NIL money from the family.
