They still think Zion is a piece of the puzzle!

Those waiting for the New Orleans Pelicans to hit the reset button and blow things up ahead of this year’s NBA trade deadline are probably going to be disappointed around this time next week. With the deadline officially a week away, the Pelicans are one of the teams at the forefront of rumors because of their 12-37 record (last in the Western Conference), and the perception around the league is they will be one of the teams aggressively looking to make some moves. Although most of the interest is on the biggest names on the roster, sources tell The Athletic it’s unlikely that Zion Williamson, Trey Murphy or Herb Jones will be moved before Feb. 5. While the Pelicans are focused on building a future around 2025 first-round picks Jeremiah Fears and Derik Queen, there’s still belief around the team that Murphy, Jones and Williamson can be foundational pieces of the puzzle moving forward.

Also hints Missi is being shopped ?

So, what other moves can New Orleans consider before the trade deadline? One of the names drawing the most interest around the league is that of center Yves Missi. The former first-round pick is averaging 5.8 points and 5.8 rebounds in his second season after New Orleans took him with the No. 21 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

The Pelicans are also fielding trade interest for center Yves Missi, with Guillory naming the Indiana Pacers, Toronto Raptors and New York Knicks among the teams in pursuit of him. However, it was also noted that "it's not a foregone conclusion" that New Orleans will trade him, either. Guillory added that "the growing sentiment" is that the Pelicans are motivated to trade Poole or Murray, if not both of them, due to their large contracts.

If this is true... that they really believe 1) the timelines of their current contracts work out to compete and 2) Any core with Zion as a focal point can compete, then I'm officially done caring about this team.

if he's not a piece of our puzzle then why would he be a piece of someone else's puzzle?

So we can’t get a bag of chips to move him?

This team wins a lot more games if you move Queen to the bench and start Messi with Karlo abd Zion at the 3.
No rotation is going to make this team "win a lot more games".
Blow. It. Up.
There is no other option if we ever want to win a meaningful amount of games.

Stop thinking that this roster is talented

Exactly. We really haven’t even been that injured this year. This team just fricking sucks.
Trade everyone not named Queen and Fears. You better hurry up and trade Herb because that contract is not looking great if he forgot how to shoot.
Poole and Murray aren’t going anywhere without picks attached so you might as well play them and hope they regain some value

Perhaps it is a bluff or smokescreen to get a better deal for Zion?

But do you think a lineup of Herb, Trey, Zion, Karlo, Messi will get you the most wins out if possible starting 5's?
It doesn’t matter because that lineup still misses the playoffs

The pelicans refuse to accept their puzzle box is missing pieces that won’t be found digging through the league’s couch cushions.
Blow it up. All of it. There isn’t a guy on this roster that should be untouchable.

I could've sworn I read this exact statement on Grok

terrible idea... their value is their value... there is nothing that they can do before the deadline that would make any difference, as every GM in the NBA knows exactly what those players are... playing them, you risk injury, then FOR SURE you ain't getting shite for them...
you sit them, wait for a team to call, and see what you can get for them... there is no other option
