What makes me mad is illegals pay no income tax (fill out no W4 or 1099, have no SSN)

In order to pay taxes in any job you’ve ever had, you fill out a W4 or a 1099. To fill that out, you have to have a SSN, and the very least, the US govt has to know you actually exist and are a citizen to submit that form.
Obviously, Jose, who doesn’t know a lick of English, does not seek or fill out a W4 or 1099. He goes to Home Depot and works construction getting paid in cash and never reports those earnings for tax purposes.
Now they do pay sales tax, but that’s because there’s no option in it. Fiesta grocery charges tax to every customer.
Issue is that income tax is wayyy bigger than sales tax. If you make $100k, youll pay 22% in income tax. So your Income tax bill will be $22k. If you end up spending $50k of that, well sales tax is only 8% of that $50k… or a $4k sales tax bill. So your income tax bill is over 5x what your sales tax is over a full year.
I’d have a less negative view on this if they ddint avoid paying income tax, yet still drive on the roads that my income tax pays for.

Not only is Jose not paying taxes, your money is subsidizing his lifestyle here in the US. And then he's illegally voting to keep it that way, and that vote counts as much as yours does.

In California, illegal cannot get an SSN to fill out a W4 or 1099. They usually get a TIN, which can be used to apply for a driver's licence and file a tax return.

I agree with your sentiment, but this isn't the case.
If your AGI is $100k, your top marginal bracket is 22%. A married couple filing jointly with $100,000 in Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) for the 2025 tax year will likely pay approximately $10,500 to $12,500 in federal income tax, depending on deductions

VERY UNDERAPPRECIATED. Every dollar of wages paid ("above the line") is taxed 13.3%, 7.65% by employer and employee. Payroll tax far outgrosses income tax for those earning $100k

FIFY. The 1099 is what the employer issues.
Keep in mind a lot of these illegals have very good fake documents with real social security numbers. Hard for an employer to tell fake from real. So the employee can fill out a W4 or W9 and still pass muster for several years at least - longer if the stolen SSN is of a dead person.
