Concerns that not enough available workforce could allow Chinese crawfish to gain a larger market share.

Somehow crawfish prices will still go up.

Im fine with legal guest workers for shite like this
But not for tech jobs that pay 6 figures

The seasonal workers I’ve been around who work the crawfish and other crop fields in Acadia Parish have always been good and pleasant to have amongst the communities. They just work, shop at the local stores, and peacefully drink a bunch of beer on Sunday afternoons before they have to get up at 4am on Monday.

I thought all crawfishermen were coonasses from Pierre Part and Lafayette area, didn’t know illegals crawfished.

They are. But they aren't running traps every morning, that's what the Hondurans are for.

And all got here late this year because government wasn’t processing visas during shut down
Posted on 1/28/26 at 1:23 pm to ragincajun03
A host of Patel crawfish LLCs will open and they'll scam the visa program.

Why one and not the other?

Because americans would take the 6 figure jobs
Poor Americans wont work in sugar cane fields or crawfish ponds for $100 a day
They would rather do nothing.

Don't think the onus is on the company to shell out wages that citizens are willing to work for?

How much do you think seasonal crawfish farm workers make?
Posted on 1/28/26 at 1:35 pm to ragincajun03
Go hire some teenagers

I will live if the crawfish industry disappears tomorrow but you are begging for super expensive crawfish. Whether Patel or Smith is working the tech job that industry isn't getting massively disrupted.

I guess their illegals are gone so they are now going the visa route.
I’ve been to enough farms to know what’s up

Worked with Visa programs quiet a bit in the golf course construction industry. It's not often anyone gets out of line, but if one of them does, it is handled by the group. I never had to do any disciplining myself. It was always a pleasure to work with them. A couple times one of them would show up a few years later on a project with a different name. Not sure how they managed to do that.

The tech jobs are more likely to need talent that our country just doesn’t produce
