Especially since he's shown a consistent willingness to restructure?

I dont see the point of investing a top 10 pick or giving Breece Hall a sizable deal ($10 mill per) when moving on from a leauxcal legend would cost an additional huge cap hit? MCLs are no big deal in 2026 and AK41 is already fully healed.

quote:

Alvin Kamara is indeed expected to be back for the 2026 season, and he has recently shown he is heckin’ hyped about it.

Despite an injury-plagued 2025 where he only played 11 games due to a mid-season MCL sprain, Kamara was recently seen "back on the grind" in training videos, signaling to fans that he isn't planning on hanging up his boots just yet.

He’s currently under contract through 2026, and while there’s been some chatter about the Saints potentially drafting his successor, Kamara has been clear that he wants to retire in New Orleans.

Here is the current vibe on his status:

Training Mode: Recent social media clips from mid-January 2026 show him working with battling ropes and looking explosive, shutting down retirement rumours.

Contract Status: He is set for a massive $18 million cap hit in 2026. While the Saints could look to restructure that flavour of a deal, they'd face a huge "dead money" hit if they cut him, making his return very likely.

Team Outlook: Saints GM Mickey Loomis and Coach Kellen Moore have expressed excitement about getting him healthy. However, they are also looking at younger talent (like Notre Dame's Jeremiyah Love in mock drafts) to lighten his workload and prevent him from getting cooked.

It seems Kamara is determined to prove that his "downfall" was a bit of a mid take and that he still has plenty of juice for 2026.

What you call Keen is mostly just observation with some stats thrown in. Most here would hope for a epic bounce back year and making all pro.

It’s not like he’s sacrificing anything by restructuring. It helps the team out in the current year, but in most cases pushes base salary to future/voided years in the form of a bonus.

Anyway, cutting/trading him doesn’t save anymore cap space this year than he’s worth on the team, so I don’t see it happening.

He hasn’t had a rush over 30 yards in four seasons

Guys who have

Audric Estime
Tyler Shough
Taysom Hill
Rashid Shaheed

The juice has been long gone. We need a real threat back there

Kamara was great for a while.

He's a RB about to be on the wrong side of 30 and has never had a 1000 yard rushing season. He's not as elusive as he use to be and the last few season has been injured.

Time to move on and get young at the position.

His 2024 campaign was pretty good relatively speaking, not saying he's as fast or quick as he once might have been. (950 rushing, 550 receiving)

The freak knee injury where the guy pulled him backward causing him to miss all those games and the line playing like shite didn't help him this year

He was one of the only semi reliable options in 2024 considering everyone else was hurt. He just doesn’t have it anymore. I’d rather see what we have with the young guys and draft / sign a FA.

I like the idea of Hall and Kamara.

Hall with 20 touches a game
Kamara with 15 touches a game

Doesn't have to all be rushing. Can be a mix. Kamara always operated best when he had another good back in the rotation with him.

My three dream offensive signings would be RB Hall, WR Pierce, and a guard that can let us cut Ruiz.

Without the Boom he cant Zoom.

He cant do it on his own as a stand alone back.
Thats why Ingram made hims so dangerous.

that TD run he had against Arizona in the first game was really nice but that was about the only time this past season where he looked like the player he used to be.

I guess I'm sentimental a-hole because I don't want to believe he's lost a step but.......

Great players.

I fear that will cost more than you think. Top guards mean top bidding wars as we are not alone. Add two of the top FAs at their position equals more bidding wars. But make it happen

Kamara is going to surprise some people this upcoming season if he stays healthy.

The interior o-line was absolutely atrocious this season in the run game. Kamara wasn't the only one that struggled. Estime only had 1/5 games at or above 4 yards per carry. Neal averaged 3.6 yards per carry on the season. Kendre averaged the most at 4.1 ypc but had some pretty terrible games efficiency wise. I think it's a combination of poor interior line play and the offense as a whole not clicking until Kamara was already done for the year.

Moore also refused to use Kamara in the passing game the way we are accustomed to as he had by far his lowest receptions per game.

Just last season Kamara had 1493 scrimmage yards. That's a really good number for a RB.

If the offense picks up where it ended this season and we add a strong guard (hopefully 2) between free agency and the draft, then Kamara is going to have a lot of people eating crow.

And shite like that tends to happen more and more with age and less juice. Young man’s position.
